Need help with new motor.
Its been a long time since Ive been on here but its finally time to start over again. So I had a 355 with a F1A procharger on with 22 lbs of boost, it ran good for a little while
.
So Im going to start over and build it the right way now. I am looking to do something like 700 minimum at the wheels so this is what Im thinking:
Prob like 427 cubic in
I was going to use a SHP block but I guess Ill have to use a Little M
Eagle 4340 light weight crank double keyed
H- beam eagle rods with 2000 arp bolts.
JE dished pistons some where around 9.1 compression
Dart iron eagle pro heads 230cc 64cc chamber
edelbrock victor intake
CSU 850 carb
Comp full roller cam
What do you guys think? I need help.

Re: Need help with new motor.
Shp block is fine. I'd run a better crank than eagle although they do work my friend cracked one at 850 hp. I run callies compstar in mine. Rods should be ok tho
Keep it 400-406" no need to stroke. Keep as much piston height in it as you can. 6" rod is fine but a 5.7-5.85 will give more and maybe keep oil ring out of wrist pin but i havent seen any problems with my car at 6" rods.
Je inverted domes are good. Dont need 230 heads but it will soften low and mid range power and make very strong top end. This will feel pretty good on street. Not be overkilling tires as boost comes in. A smaller head and cam like a 195-210 cc head make gobs of torque with boost. 700whp on 12-14 psi boost easily with decent cam. Torque will be insane. Car runs a quicker 1/8 this way with less need for converter and gear. Better street mileage
Can stay hyd roller for longevity if you want.

I am going to run my 850 CSU blow through carb, I have a edelbrock victor JR is it worth switching to the victor intake for a little more flow?

Re: Need help with new motor.
Rating is just to cover their ****. I know a few pushing more than that and had no problems for a few years. I havent slugged mine around as much yet due to changing setups but its been around 800 hp for a little while with no signs of trouble. My friend however seems to have caps walking on a heavy nitrous setup around 850 hp.
If you can afford it go lil m. Also stay with aluminum heads and get a better head than iron eagles. Those heads suck out the box.
For your power levels vic jr should be ok especially for street driving. Vic would be worth more top end. Ported jr would be optimal

How far do you think you can push the shp block? That's not what you have in your car Orr89rocz?

Re: Need help with new motor.
I have SHP in mine, 800 hp or so for last few years but I havent totally abused it either. Lots of street pulls and few track hits. Been mid 9's at 140+
My friends SHP has seen much more drag racing abuse and probably similar if not more power. close to 800whp through a manual trans and a 300 shot. Caps were walking abit he says.
SHP pro block is a better choice. Has better caps and larger cam journals, better for more power and rpm but only few hundred more on top of that, Little M's can be had. Cant beat that block's strength. Its up to you.
SHP well prepped and machined with quality hardware should work. Theres guys in the drag section that claim well over 1000 hp on them. I plan to push mine 1000hp as well.
