Procharger intercooler pipe routing

Hi,

I'm installing a used D-1SC Procharger into a '92 Camaro. I'm trying to connect the driver's side piping to the intercooler's inlet. The lower pipe doesn't align with the intercooler. There's about a 20 degree angle between them. Is this normal or do I have something routed wrong? The instructions call for a straight hose on the connection, so I would expect better alignment.

Here's the misalignment:

The lower pipe coming into the intercooler:

The intercooler's location:

And the topside pipe's routing, where you can see the angle rubber elbow coming up through the fender:

Can anyone let me know if this looks correct or if something is off?

Thanks!
Joe

Re: Procharger intercooler pipe routing
The intercooler is what procharger provides, so it is what it is, junk or not.

What's wrong with the piping? Can you post a picture of yours? I already put up a picture of the top side showing the piping from the head unit to meet up with the pipe from below. What else do you need to see for the under hood piping to the intercooler inlet?

That does look a little weird, does that bottom pipe have the outlet for the bypass valve?

Re: Procharger intercooler pipe routing
that lower pipe was cut and welded usually the piping is smooth until the ends where they are crimped for the hose

Okay, we'll stop right about there. When you buy used, don't expect everything to be the same way that it came from the supplier. It is very possible someone modified it a little to accommodate their build...

Re: Procharger intercooler pipe routing
The pipe I have does have the bypass valve outlet. And yes, there is a weld there. Good to know I wasn't screwing something up with the way I was trying to get the pipe to fit. Searching the classifieds, I was able to locate a picture of what the pipe may have originally looked like.

Thanks for the link for the 30 degree elbow. I'll pick one up.

Re: Procharger intercooler pipe routing
Even the pipe going to the blower outlet has been modified, it should look like the one in the pic third down on the right. Though yours looks fine the way it is, maybe even better.

Re: Procharger intercooler pipe routing
It's been surprising difficult to find pictures of installations on Camaros. I still haven't found one showing what the stock intercooler inlet pipe should look like installed. Most pics that I found had silver piping instead of black. The pic below had black piping and appears to be similar to mine. Maybe they redesigned the pipe at some point?

Heres a shot of mine. You can "clock" the Procharger housing round to move the position of the outlet. I had to do that with mine, as I also had the same problem of nothing lining up.

I know the picture is of Larry Stuaner's T/A. He is a procharger dealer up by Chicago which is who I bought mine from. Smart guy. He helped me out alot when I orignally installed my setup.
