Turbo Newbie question for junkyard turbo
Got a project going on the side trying to keep the budget as cheap as i can.
The project,
91 truck lower end (Stock just adding rings and bearing as the bottom end only had 28k on it)
Drilled / tapped bosses for roller lifters
Vortec 906 heads, (Exhaust ported, Intake just cleaned up casting imperfections and polished, Milled Stud bosses .375 for guide plates and screw in studs, Valve guide boss machined for .550 lift)
Chinese HSR Intake (Actully i think its on par with a real HSR, Has a thicker casting but needs cleaned up and im going to)
Using the EFI Connection reluctor wheel, Vortec Dist. and 6.0 Injector from a totaled 2011 camaro. 411 ECM, Custom fuel rails and Holley FPR. Coils from a 13 2500.
I got free roam of a huge junkyard out here. Was thinking about adding a turbo but not willing to spend the 1500+ for a new one and i dont know that much about turbos this will be my first build with one if i do it.....
So finally to the question, Are there any Factory turbos that would work with this setup. I dont need anything super crazy. I seen a duramax and a 7.3 ford turbo in the yard and got my brain tingling. I figure i wont spin past 6300 ever
Second question, Iv seen some people run a turbo off just 1 side of the motor is this as bad as i think it is? Should i build a Y pipe and run it off both sides?

Re: Turbo Newbie question for junkyard turbo
the powerstroke turbo is smallish and has a wierd oil flange, and the D-max turbo has a housing specific to the dmax... If you make either work you'll eventually want to upgrade to something bigger and you'll have a proprietary setup to that turbo to contend with. In other words don't waste your time...
