turbo is this any good??

Ok guys im in the process of building a 350 tpi. I was thinking to turbo it but after reading sum of the headaches idk. I was looking for something local and ran across this kit on ebay. Now i have a iroc vert. I wont be doing any drag racing but i want something different and cool. The guys that sells this kit is a couple miles away from my house and willing to knock off a few bucks if i come pick it up. Its a twin turbo setup. I was thinking on going single turbo. But check it out and shoot me your honest opinion. Please and thank you guys much.

Nope, not a direct fit no matter what the sale title says. Plus it has really crappy turbos and other crappy components like those WG. Just use BBS turbo Manifolds. Do a search on this forum to find him.

And im gonna have a 4 inch cowl hood also. im gonna use his manifolds so thanks. Do you have a good opinion on a cheapy turbocharger?

An entire twin turbo kit, with the turbos for just over $700.
Tell me something about that doesn't sound a little fishy.

Re: turbo is this any good??

th headers will bolt on but it puts the turbos into the frame rails , few ppl here have used that exact kit with some mods to it to make it work. most pl will buy those headers and then build there own crossover tube for a single turbo setup

the turbos will work fine, plenty of ppl here and the turbo forums use those turbos without issues , and select other ebay turbos

the intercooler is to small

buy an ebay gt45 from ebay or grab one from vsracing for under 300 bucks use a set of flipped over shorty headers and build ur own crosover , ebay 32x12x4 intercooler. u can also use the 100$ ebay headers like are in that ebay add and build ur own crossover for those

Project 89 you hit the nail on the head with that bit of info. Sweet thing is i have a pair of shortys brand new. i knew that intercooler was gonna suck . I was thinking bout using a vw intercooler. i didnt even know i could use a pair of shortys upside down.

it depends on the shorty header , most will fit flipped some wont , another option is a pair of flipped block hugger headers , any which way u do it theres going to be a bunch of fab work and modifying to do

those ebay foward headers fit 80% of the time and make decent heeaders for a single turbo , a couple ppl have had issues witht hem not clearing the steering shaft on the driver side , while others have had a ton of clearance. could be sagging motor mounts or some other issue not really sure why they fit for some and not the others

if u look threw this secton u should be able to find some builds that used flipped shortys so u can see whats involved

Re: turbo is this any good??

I have to admit some of those Chinese turbos are pretty good. I bought a Chinese ball bearing T76 back in 2012 to put on my suburban. It has ran at 5 pounds of boost for endless hours and thousands of miles driving from NM to the east coast and back a few times.

I use the biggest one of those cheap 3'' in/out ebay intercoolers on my diesel. Seems to do ok feeding a 395 cubic inch engine that runs at wide open throttle all the time.
I am going to pull the intercooler off here sometime soon and replace it with a straight pipe while I build a better bumper housing for the intercooler and then I can see how much boost I have been loosing.
