Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale
Car looks great.
No BS, anyone looking to spray base/clear or paint with hardener should read up on the short term and long term affects of not wearing the proper respiratory equipment. It will mess you up for life.

Yeah, I have the appropriate respirator and wear a 3m suit. Isocyanates is no joke. Causes nervous system damage. Might even make you vote democrat.
I gotta repaint my stingray, and I'm actually thinking of lacquer rather than BC/CC.

How much dirt did you get in it?

theres not much at all in it , the building id pressurized by the massive evap cooler so i left the bay door open about 1 ft it kept all the dust and dirt off the car.
i did make the mistake of opening the bay door all thw ay after the final clear coat and when the door went up over the car some dirt dropped down on it but it will all wetsand/buff out

Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale
Knowing Dave the way I do, he wasn't wearing a mask because he had a cigarette hanging out of his mouth while spraying. But I digress. Glad you're feeling better, just remember to suit up properly next time out...

i havent done much i pushed the car outside to sit in the sun to cure the paint.
to b honest i havent felt all that well , yesterday i was feeling pretty good, but it was just to damn hot out to do anything , im going to push the car back into the shop today.
tommorow the plan is to weld the bung on the oil pan and reinstall the motor in the car , and then i have to wait till this weekend to get the trans put back together and get that int he car
im close to having it done im going to slow down a lil at this point and make sure everything is right , 31 days exactly till the drag races so i have plenty of time

Dave it really is coming out great, the guys here in Jersey love it so far. Once the paint is done, then the interior, you'll hands down have the nicest turbo Camaro on the board, and you'll run it hard, the way it was meant to be driven. Paint really looks incredible bro, you should show those guys over on the NJFBOA what you've been up to. By the way, sleep next to a steamer if you can, not a humidifier, it will loosen it all up..

IF its ever done and makes it to a race track... Until then all this thread is, is a big ole circle jerk.
Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale
I'm loving that paint, it would look so good with my black interior, but I can't cuz you did it first and I refuse to copy lmao. Now I am stuck trying to top it. Damn that paint is nice!!!!!

3 more outstanding colors rob take ur pick thats the same paint i used on mine
i got my oil pan welded up , my pickup tube also welded in , and the oil pan back on the motor.
dragged the car back in the shop but everyone else went to lunch so i had noone to help me push it up on the lift so i can home for a quick break.
when they get back ill get the car back on the lift and then drop the motor back in it today , should have a bunch of pics and stuff tonight
the goal for the day is engine back in car and get the turbo system finilized and welded up , so that this weekend when the trans is done i can bolt it in and the car will be 95% ready to go
edit looks like somone broke the youtube links embedeing

Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale
motor would have been intoday except i forgot to install the oil pump drive when i put the pump in , im so used to the stock style ones u can drop down from the intake side. figured that one out when i went to prime the oil pump today
the one i bought has the collar put on to the drive with a roll pin , i was all pissed off at the stupid mistake so i just packed it up for the day , ill fix it tommorow and get back to work on it

He likes to change things. single twin single twin. Kind of like the sun here in new england.
You know, turbos are cool but I kind of wish I didn't turbo mine. A lot of plumbing, a lot of heat.

Unfair advantage lol? Smaller engine, smaller valves, iron heads, yes bigger cam but so what, stock TPI runners, stock throttle body, how is that unfair even with e-town being within walking distance lol? WTF are you doing in Utah anyway bro, come back home already...
Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale
Don't forget the oil return probs people encounter from the butt mount.
Yeah, I don't like doing the crossover up front like that. Blowers are too loud for an old phart like me.
Once you drive it, you will stop wanting a blower. Max boost at 2500 rpm in that thing. Massive torque.

Steve had a similar problem but up top with his turbo Iroc, melted the hose from the radiator to the reservoir, he had to install a brass fitting and braided hose. I wouldn't chance it Joe, boost plus slippery road from coolant spill equals disaster waiting to happen...

I need to buy some universal flexible radiator hose and maybe a hard 90* elbow or something.
I have not had much time or ambition to work on the car.
Also in the process of buying a second house (waterfront) so I'm even more busy than normal.
Re: Single turbo 352 iroc 1000hp or bust the grand finale
engine will be in tonight
joe forget the flexible stuff , get some 304 stainless u bends from summit racing and make the hoses out of them , and just clamp them with some hose on the rad and engine sides

Hope to gawd you didn't mess up that freaking paint!
paints all good hit another snag with the trans today , trans brake calls for 5 clutches in the direct pack with .040-.050 clearance.
well with my narowest presure plate and only 4 clutches in the pack with the stock piston there was like .005 clearance
so after measuring the thickness of the extra steel plate and clutch i then added + .045 to get my final number , we had to drive 6 miles over to were my friends dad has a lathe and i chucked up the piston and machined it.
get back to the shop and reassemble the unit with all 5 clutches , and the narrow clutch presure plate and still have 0 clearance, turns out the piston wasnt machined square to begin with so when i measured it it was to tall to begin with
so one final trip to the lathe i knocked off the rest of what i needed to get the proper clearance and got the direct drum assembled . im home now but heading back in a bit to finish assembling the trans , which will deffinalty be done tonight theres only a lil bit left to do on it
stock piston
and me machining it the second time

the direct drum was easy to modify , only had to drill a .050 hole in the drum
and i machined the piston for the clearance needed for the extra steel and clutch
we assembled the intermediate but the drum was worn were the torrington bearing had siezed so we had to swap out the intermediate drum for one out of the th350c , pressed the shafts out no problem to swap them , and when we pressed the th350 input shaft into the th350c drum the drum broke
alls thats left to do is swap the shaft over to the drum my friend had and then reinstall the intermediate clutch pack in the drum and then it will literally take 30 mins to finish assembling the trans
if the bellhousing bolts onto the unit without needing extra clearance it wont take long at all
the good news is if i ever break the th350 we will be pros at rebuildinig it by the time this is done
