Interested in Banks Twin Turbo System for SBC

When I was still in my mid-twenties years ago I had heard of the outrageous tales of the twin turbo V-6 GM Grand National GNX. My friend knew a guy that owned one and told me tales of his ride in the beast. I had an '86 Camaro at the time and had replaced the 305 with a 350 and put in a roller cam from a later model TA at the dealership I was working at back in 1996-97. I'm 45 now (I think). So still dreaming back then...

Now, I'm interested in twin turbo V8 setups in modern day. Surely many advances have been made since the GNX, and I want to feel it for myself, maybe destined for track...

I was looking at a BANKS SBC Turbo setup and was intrigued to read that their turbos were so efficient that intercoolers were not needed. Now this seems very appealing since you would NOT have tubing running all over the place!

Anyone use Banks setup for street or strip?

Here is there link claiming no need for intercooler:http://bankspower.com/products/show/470/78

Intercoolers are almost always needed, they make a huge difference in intake charge temps.

Even using cruise control my my '13 Focus ST the Compressor outlet temps are in the 180°F area under vacuum. On boost they go as high as 300°F. The intercooler brings that down to ambient temp, or slightly above ambient. That said, the intercooler is too small to deal with extended load and often heat soaks to 115-120° under track conditions.
