Rebuilding engine for super charger, what parts should i get ?
Im getting ready for my 1st rebuild, what parts do yall recommend for my D1SC here's what ive been told so far, also could somone give a generic price range for these parts so i can coordinate my funds.
AFR 195's = 1600 $ ?
Forged pistons = (TRW-L2441F30) from speed pro 320 $
(i should get pistons especially for supercharged applications right ?)
Forged rods = dont know what to get ? most are 600 $
Camshaft = dont know what to get ?
Injectors = do i need bigger ?
MSD6AL = 172 $
Fuel pressure guage = 80 $
Boost guage = 45 $
Headers = dont know what to get, but dont want SLP's ?
High flow water pump = do i need one ?
Gaskets = 70 ?
Question : Do i want my engine to be lower compression so i can boost more, or do i want higher compression but less boost ?
Question : I plan on keeping the TPI, but maybe getting some SLP runners, will i need a bigger TB for my application.
Goal: My car is going to be a daily driver, however it will be down to the track sometimes, but mostly just a summer/spring car so i want the BEST combination that will run on pump gas for the street/ some strip application, what do yall suggest ?
The choices in your responses is VERY helpful, based on your responses is what i might possibly buy, so please let me know about your expierences with the products you suggest.
I know that the combination is very important, everything i buy has to work well with another product, so im really really confused about what to buy, but your responses will truly help me in my project, THANK YOU ALL VERY VERY VERY MUCH !!!

I would get every bolt ARP at least get the rod and main bolts. What is your horse power you are trying to reach. From what I have read lower comprtion is better I think most say not to go over 9 to 1 may be 10 to 1. For rods if you want a cheap alternitave I would look int to the new GM PM rods like they use in the lt4 engines you can get them for like 150 a set new polish them your self have your machine shop shot ping them and have every thing balanced I think I read that they will handal up to like 500 + horses this whay. That is the route I took and I think balanced and every thing was like 200 I would call SDPC tech line and see if they know what the rods can handal. I would also get a good Fluid Dampner you can get the summit brand for like 180. When I was build ing the motor I had putting a turbo charger on it latter in minde So I planed to just have to change the cam when I got ready to do it. As for the TB I would go to a 52mm but not larger and get a getter base or port the stock one the best you can. I think from what I have read most of the guys are also using larger injectors as well size will depend on horse power you are looking to get. Im no turbo expert but if you bild the engine with strong quality parts and mabe talk with Wille a bought the cam you need you sholdnt have a problem. I talked with Willie a few times over e0mail and he seams to be a great guy and always willing to help when it comes to this topik If you do a serch On DS1 you should find a lot of info abought how he built his set up.

The two areas you should concentrate on are the internal motor parts and exhaust.
If you want to rip the motor apart and built it for the supercharger you will need a few parts new and a few can be reused.
New:
Pistons - high quality forged flat tops or dished. Try for a 9:1 to 9.5:1 compression with whatever heads you use.
Rods - Typically these are the weak links in a lower revving motor, especially on NOS or supercharger (turbo also), they bend or break more easily under boost. The stronger the better.
Heads - depending on your funds, heads will help tremendously. There is a downside: getting better heads will more or less make you get a better intake, cam...
Exhaust - get the SLP 1-3/4" headers and the Mufflex 3-1/2" cat-back system minimum. Anyone who says a 3" is sufficient is smoking the good stuff, because it becomes a restiction over 325hp.
Reuse:
Stock crank - if it checks out ok and you won't push it past 5500rpm it should work fine. Get a new forged one if you want to push above 5500rpm.
Intake, cam, heads - if you don't want to go buck wild with $ you can keep your stock parts. Don't expect it to be as fast though.

I think that 9.5:1 compression is too much for boosted applications. I think that I'd go with around 8:1 or 8.5:1. You can run way more boost then. That way, when your not hard on the gas, you can run low-octane gas, and when you're gonna race, just fill up with premium. and for cam specs, I wouldn't go that far from the stock cam, I've heard that a cam on a boosted engine acts like a cam that has 20 degrees more duration on a naturally aspirated engine.
