Orientation of oiling orifice for ATI Procharger

There are two orifices on oiling tube that is directed toward the gears of a P600 ATI Procharger. Is there a specific orientation for these oiling holes.

One orifice is aimed parallel to the tube and the other orifice is aimed at a 45*.

Thanks...

If the oil nozzle has two holes, then it was originally for a LT1. The blower on a LT1 mounts upsidedown for pulley clearance. The extra oil hole (45 degree) is there to ensure that the input bearing gets oil (since the blower is mounted upsidedown). This oil nozzle will work with either a LT1(upsidedown) or standard(rightside up) blower. You will just get a little extra oil to the blower. I would aim the 45 degree hole towards the bottom of the blower. The pinion beraing gets oil from the hole coming out of the end of the oil nozzle. Hope this helps.

Thanks 92Z,

One more, I purchased this blower from a local dealer. This is going on a SBC boat engine, so I'm fabricating the mounts for it. I assume that the two holes on the bottom of the "transmission/pulley" housing are for oil return. But if you look at the front of the housing (drive pulley facing you), the PROCHARGER name is upside down. But the blue nameplate is on top.

I believe that I have the ATI oriented correctly.

There are usually either 1 or 3 drain holes in the standard P600 backing plate (this is the piece that the front cover bolts to). A P600 for a LT1 (Camaro or Firebird application) will have these holes plugged and another hole tapped in the front cover. This fitting ,when the PROCHARGER name is rightside up, would be on the top of the blower and the nameplate would then be on the bottom of the blower (hence, when mounted upsidedown, the nametag would be on top and the drain would be on the bottom.) It sounds like you've got a LT1 blower. If this is going on a SBC boat engine, I would assume you would need just a standard P600 blower. I would contact the dealer, and tell them that you have the wrong blower. If you bought a SBC marine kit, the rest of the kit may be alright, but the wrong head unit may have been packed. Just read your post about the step-up ratio. Does the pulley snout sit almost flush with the case (where it says PROCHARGER)? I ask because P600's for LT1 Corvette applications have a 3.36 step-up ratio. They do this because there isn't enough room to fit the larger pullies required to keep the boost around 7 or 9psi. Hope this helps.

92Z - greatly appreicate the comments!!!!!! The pulley is only about 1/4" from the housing.

This is a DIY fabrication. There is a dog house that covers the engine and the only room for the blower is in front of the engine. So the inlet of the blower points forward. I believe I chose the correct blower for my application.

BTW, is there a lot of "gear noise" assoicated with the ATI Procharger?

It looks like you have one of the "stubby" Procharger blowers. These are mainly for LT1 Corvette's and 4.6L Mustangs, due to space. This would probably be the best for your application since you are mounting the inlet facing forward. The LT1 and 4.6L Mustang "stubby" blowers have two drain holes in the cover (like you mentioned yours has). The noise from the blower isn't too loud, although, since the inlet will be facing forward the noise may be a little bit louder. The "dog house" may quieten (is that a word?) it a little bit.

Thanks 92Z, you have been VERY helpful. Now for some warm weather so I can break-in the engine and tune 'er up. The boat needs to be in water to run (jet drive). Lakes are frozen around here right now.

I'll probably be breaking-in the engine with the supercharger disconnected. One less thing to juggle during break-in.

Did a better tooth count on the P600; the driven gear has 22 teeth and with a 3.36 gear ratio overdrive, math tells me that the drive gear has 74 teeth.

FWIW..
