Two things, if it says thumper on it then back away they are junk poser cams.
Second if your engine is a 1989 then you have a roller cam. Stay with a roller cam and never downgrade to flat tappet

Doubt you would ever reach 250 HP with the stock 187 heads. Certainly use a better roller cam, get a GOOD set of headers + matching y-pipe, drop in some L30 Vortec heads and the correct fueling and tuning you could get there. NO cam alone could coax 80 more HP out of that engine alone though trust me.

Wrong forum.... but to help you out, you're going to want to rev the engine higher to reach your goal. I would recommend a single plane intake, larger throttle body with TBI adapter/spacer, larger injectors, and matching roller cam. The heads aren't that bad, they are not great, but 250 horsepower is feasible with them. Upgrade your valve-train to handle the increased RPM, and get yourself an EBL Flash system to dial it all in.

Crane 2032 Grind. Make sure to match the Springs & Retainers. The smaller TFS heads would work well too with that cam. Then Intake and Exhaust to get it working right. Along with a Tune of course. That would meet, or exceed your goals.

Vortec's and a 212/222 435/460 lift cam will get you there. mine did 351rwph with 5 lbs boost. mine was a flat tappet cam too.

Mine was tuned to 427 WHP, With the Crane I mentioned above. Go big or go home! lol
And it's really not a big cam. For a 305 guess it is though.. Had Crane Gold 1.6rr's too. It ran hard. Ask the Bolt on LS1's in my Neighborhood.
