I have $600 and a stock 305TPI- Help me get some horsepower!!

I got $600 for my birthday and I am very interested in putting some more power into my 'Roc. Any suggestions about the best combo for the most power with $600 to spend would be appreciated. Thank you

SPRAY IT!!!!!!!!!!!

if you are an "all motor" type of person...get a good set of headers and take it from there!! I have SLP's and they are outstanding...tho a little pricey

Id go for a good pair of headers and a more agressive cam. You may even have enough cash left for a shallower set of gears.

Since you asked this on the "power adder" board and 6 big bills is not enough for a blower or turbo, then the only power adder option left is nitrous oxide. But then you might need some more $$$ for a new set of tires after using a bottle of nitrous or two.

As everyone said before, N20 is the only power adder that your gonna touch for that amount of money, and don't forget not only will you be buying tires alttle more frequently, but also the money that you'll be shelling out for bottle refills.

I was asking about stuff more along the lines of K+N filters, a chip, etc etc...the low dollar mods- what combo of THEM would give me the most power? Oh, and about headers- I heard from a local performance shop that the only "legal" headers for my car cost $550 and were $780 if they were ceramic coated. I know other headers exist, but I was told not to go for bad ones that wouldnt last me. Other things I have heard about that I can afford are things like bigger throttle bodies and intake runners. Any opinions?

Go to www.thunderracing.com, link on top of tis page, click 82-92 f-bodies on the left, click induction, and the stuff on that page may be what you are looking for... just a suggestion

Fair enough, but those mods are not actually what are refered to as a "power adder". Power adder is basicaly another term for "forced induction" ie, blowers, turbos, nitrous and such.

You can get them cheaper but you do often get what you pay for.
The best place to ask exhaust questions would be on the exhaust board.

Other things I have heard about that I can afford are things like bigger throttle bodies and intake runners. Any opinions?
The TPI board would be the place to find answers for those Qs.

I know you want more power because it's cool to spin tires and go fast, but some other things that would be worth thinking about a suspension parts. A new set of polygraphite bushings will do wonders for the car. New control arms, pan hard rod and torque arm will help a lot too. Frame connectors are in your price range too. This is just a suggestion, but I would save up money to make a small block that will handle the power you want to make so you don't have to worry about ventilating the block everytime you hit the GO button. You'll have to buy suspension parts eventually anyway if you really want to go fast. In the mean time you can enjoy the better handling you get and get the most out of that engine.

Most places charge around $3-$4 a pound, so to fill a 10 pounder from dead empty runs round $30-$40.
I get mine filled with Nytrous+ at WH Service in Kanahwa City. There might be a place closer to Huntington for you though, I'll ask around.

Nytrous+ is the trade name for all automotive grade nitrous. it is trademarked by Mallencrot/Purritan-Benet now owned by Airgas it is the nitrous that is legal for possesion without a medical permit because it is "scented" (contaminated) with several parts per million SO2 (sulfer dioxide) to keep ricers from sniffin it. the only systems ive seen that totally empty a bottle with power you can feel to the last drop are the "51" series (51XX) dry manifold systems from NOS. most wet flow systems get surgy after the first 6 to 7 pounds is gone. I still preffer the wet system because I see more taco shelled throttle bodies and "popped" (ripped) air tubes from all the dry manifold system backfires. I usually race either at the track or organized "midnight" street races (not on the main drag through down town!). when I use only a 75 to 125 shot I can go 6 to 8 races on a bottle, which is enough to get you to the finals at the track and about the number of races you can get at the "midnight nationals" when there are lots of cars any way. Besides with a spare 10 lb bottle is only $139 dollars and $159 for 15 pounders it pays to have a spare just in case. https://www.thirdgen.org/rides/index...ew&rideid=3980

a power chip will cost about $160 and a K&N filter costs about $35
