Fmic on ta

For guys running a fmic in front of the rad on a ta, are you seeing issues with heat soak or high temps Reuther m either in the intercooler or rad?

Before I stored the car last year, I switched to a normal front bumper w/out the cut out I made, and surprisingly, it did not heat soak. Just remember to upgrade the other areas when you start making modifications. eg; Lower your fan settings, maybe consider a larger radiator, a cold air intake away from the block, a caged IAT sensor, etc.

Thanks! I have a bigger rad and dual fans for cooling. Did you stand your intercooler up in front of the rad?

Damn auto correct on the phone, have to watch that!

Do an AWIC. Less plumbing and better cooling.

http://www.frozenboost.com/

I would never supercharge anything again with an air/air intercooler. Worst idea ever. It would be one thing if someone made a "kit" for these cars, but since everything is custom anyway. I say do it right.

When you swapped bumpers did you pull that duct out between the bumper supports and let it get air from under the car?

I haven't really looked much into AWIC yet, would still need it's own rad in front of the engine rad and I'm also running AC, so I'll have a condenser there too.

AWIC radiators are WAY smaller than an actual air/air intercooler core. Like 1/4 the size or less. And the plumbing to them is 3/4" - 1" heater hose. You do the math on fitment.... Let's not even talk about the additional lag from the excessively long charge pipe's to an air/air FMIC.

Water is a more efficient heat transfer medium. In fact it is 24.17 TIMES more efficient than air at absorbing and releasing heat.

The trade off for wiring a single 12v switched pump is 24x greater efficiency, plumbing with 1" hose instead of 3" pipe, and a much smaller radiator core. And the stuff from Frozenboost.com is excellent quality. Their customer service is great, and the stuff is cheap. There's no downside.

Ford, Chevy, and Dodge all use them in stock supercharged applications. They work for turbo's just as well. I honestly don't know why air/air systems are so popular. They suck.

No. Although I do have the stock crash support in the garage, I left the altered one in for the mean time. The FMIC is not resting up against the front/lower portion of the radiator support, there is about three to four inches of clearance. The stock air dam is still under the car, and it provides more than enough are for the radiator. Car never ran hotter than 205 degrees around town in the state that it is currently in, even in blistering heat. This was last August...
