Turbo Tbi!!

I just got back from the semi truck salvage yard. I bought a used turbo there. It is really large but pretty dirty. I also got all of the tubes that attach to it.

Do you think I can put this on my 91 rs L03?? I got it cheap and figured that I could just turn my exhaust manifolds around and run some tubes to the turbo. What do you guys think?

I am thinking this will work good on my 334 Powerhouse Stroker.

you could physically do it, but you wouldnt be able to run that much boost on a stock l03 with no intercooler...probably 5 or under psi...I don't know of anyone that has tc'd a tbi system before, but if you only did 5 psi of boost, you would probably only need to replace your fuel pump and regulator with a real high pressure model for it to have enough fuel.

a turbo from a talon, volvo, ford 2.3 (turboed), or grand national could probably do 5 psi on the TBI even stroked but I would recommend at least an FMU (see vortech, cartech) and it would not need computer mods or other special fuel delivery parts other than additional pump (see same as above) for that level.

hell do it like a Bughatti and run 4, just pair off cylinders into 4 turbo flanges and use little turbos (1.3 turbo sprint or metro size). can you say goodbye turbo lag?

not always true ... some of the fastest street supras in the US swapped from twin to single turbo to hit around 9.73 @ 174 (example).

You definatly don't need 2, there a lot of single turbo v8's and v6's out there that make a lot of power.

There was a lot of talk on the TBI board about turbocharging awhile back and I think the general concensus was it wont work with TBI and its better left for the MPFI.

I don't see why it wouldn't work. People turbo carbed motors and tbi is kind of like a carb. I'm interested in trying this too. How much horsepower and torque increase do you think 5psi or so could make on a 305 LO3?
