There is ALWAYS (and most of the time an easy) way to get around stuff like that. Using cookies?..... delete cookies....
Using email?...... make a new email address....
Using name? ..... make up a new name, same with everthing else.

The only thing that would effectively work would be to require a credit card number with name and address, but I dont think too many people would be a member here if they asked for CC info just to become a member do you?

I dont think it is possible, bottom line...

You can ban someone's IP address, that seems to be the best full proof way if I recall.

Yeah you can ban IP's cept internet companies give out new IP's once and awhile to protect you from hackers.

and if you're on dial up, like i am, if they ban your ip, you can re connect to your provider, and get back in.

however, if they ban a range of ip address that are used by your provider, you're not getting in.

If i'm not mistaken the cable internet provider here issues us a new IP address every time we connect or every day at a certain time.

dial up and DSL use new ip's everytime you log on. Cable doesn't change. But instead of banning the name, why not just delete it? That way if 6 months from now somebody might want to use that same name, and nobody has that name. How does that work?
