Pics in sig problem

I have been over and over this but it is not working.
I set up my sig to show an image from my website and it makes the reference but it does not show the picture. I know the picture is there as I can type the url directly into my browser and it opens it right up.
I started with a jpeg and changed it to a gif, I took off the http:// and put it back, it still shows the same thing, a broken image link.

I am drawing it from a Geocities free website, could that be causing the problem?
Thanks for any help

That site doesn't allow image linking. Use the readers rides section on this site and copy and paste it's url.

Actually I already tried that.
I cant upload one into the readers rides.
Everytime I attempt to do that it indicates:

You may not enter a file with two periods "." side by side!

I can not figure out what this means. My file extension is pristine I have quadruple checked it for a bad name with "two periods side by side" and there is nothing like that in the file name.

Thanks for the infor about linking outside the thirdgen site, now I have a new problem with the readers rides upload.

Any ideas on that?

Maybe try this, I use www.iroczone.com reader's rides section to host my pics.
