How about we create an off topic board?

Seriously though, and in that board only have one locked post, titled "There will NEVER be an off topic board" and maybe list a few of the reasons.

Not sure if it would be possible, but I think it would be funny and get the point across.

That is the best idea for a forum I have ever heard A locked out lounge forum would keep the 1 time a week question of "can we have a off topic/lounge forum from being asked all the time. Great idea Mark A Shields

There is the reason listed in that post without going into the exact details. We had 1 before and it DID NOT work out AT ALL. There WILL NOT be another, asking for it WILL NOT change this. Things went crazy because of the Non-Tech Board and shut the entire site down, (not just the boards) for a good amount of time, not just a few days. No1 that was here then as I was wants that again, and definetly not Dirk. Listen to us, the site is better without it. I am not the only person that will tell you this, search and see the others that were here and even people that weren't that agree.

The "ThirdGen.Org and a Non-Tech Board" announcement was made so that people would stop requesting it and to let them know ahead of time. We can't believe that people are still doing it. If there is somethng saying that it will not happen for good reason why are people still asking?? This is ThirdGen.Org, a technical and enthusiast site for the THIRD GEN F-Body and nothing else. I think its time that any request be locked immediatly with a link to that post.

I understood you perfectly. I'm hoping that the next dude that has an "idea" to make a post for a place for off-topic BS that has nothing to do with Third Gens, reads it in here.

 

I like the idea that thirdgen.org is tech only.

There are plenty of other thirdgen related non tech sites out there.

He doesn't WANT an off-topic board. He wants a locked forum so people get the idea that thirdgen.org is non-tech.

 

yeah because people will see a forum titled off topic or something and go into it and the only thing there and only thing allowed to be posted is one topic that says there will never be a off topic board. that is the only way i see it to make sure people read it is put it in their face.

I really like the idea alot. IF someone saw the lounge forum and went in and it was all locked down and said clearly that there will never be a lounge to bs in ever on thirdgen.org again. And maybe put something like if you post about unlocking the lounge forum on the forum problem board or anyother board you will be put on probation. Then that might fix these once a week posts about a non topic forum.

 

I think it's a good idea as well but you know the administrators wont fly with it, they will say that it's a waste of bandwidth and people already know about not ever having a non-tech board....but none-the-less, great thinking!

Nah... just put one post in there explaining that there used to be a non tech board back in the day which lead to thirdgen.org shutting down and we dont want that to happen again therefore there will never be another non tech board.

 

And then there will be requests to open it. Its better with the announcement on this board.

 

Yeah I have a feeling we're gonna get requests no matter that.
