Been a while since I was here last. Apparently lots have changed, so I have a few simple questions that may seem ignorant ...

1) what happened to the old post counts?
2) is the new-england board still our 'non-tech' board?
3) why can't I find -any- of my old tech posts?

The server had crashed, might be where some of the old posts went (though I still can find my first posts!)

Not sure of the other questions though!

 

When the server crashed, the Operating System hard drive crashed, and not the drive that had the database on it. Furthermore, the database is more than likely backedup in case of such failure. Dirk had said there was no lost posts, and there shouldn't have been due to the above facts.

i can't answer the questions. Dirk has been working with the database, as TGO is getting ready to move to a new server. The database was offline yesterday, not sure what Dirk was doing and if it caused this.

Edit: i should add that i was speaking about the lastest server/hard drive crash. i did not know the original poster here was talking back to '00.

1) After the meltdown we lost a slew of post counts. I can't remember if it was from the hack or if it was from the loss of the non-tech board. Then IIRC we crashed once soon after the re-vamp, and I think there was a crash before the non-tech loss as well. Somewhere in that mix a ton of posts were lost and cut so that's probably it. Ask Mark Shields, someone owes him 10,000 posts.

2)NE3G is still a non-tech board pretty much, but it's not the default non-tech board anymore. Mac still runs it and it's still fun, but it's not touted as the alternative non-tech board for TGO anymore, I think at least. :shrug:
