Post Picture in Thread?

Ok, I'm stumped by how do this. I can't for the life of mefigure out how to post a picture of something with a thread. I have people wanting me to post a pic of something and I can't get one on. Can someone explain in as simple as possible how this is done. I have digital pics which I have made smaller to fit the required size but cannot get them posted. I've tried a number of things with no luck, so obviously I'm not doing something right..Thanks for any help anyone can give me..

Disregard the Readers Rides option since it currently is down.
