other dukes are claiming 37mpg.i doubt your v8 is getting even close to that.
mine is getting crappy mileage because the car was neglected and abused when i bought it.
no one had even changed the fluids before[except oil],and it had 140,000 miles on it.22 years with absolutly no maintinence kinda hurts gas milage.
after i get the new computer and suspension i should be getting 30mpg city and 35 hiway.
maybe more depnding on what else it needs or i get for it.

i willing to bet most of those people dont have a duke.
since it would only concern people with the duke,it should only apply to duke owners.
its like having a national election for a mayor.
its only the locals who SHOULD get to vote.

Re: Iron Duke
Camaro's and Firebird's were always known for their high performance image. The use of these motors was one of the poorest ideas the General ever made with these machines. It did the f body line no justice aside from not even being able to get off the line. I hope that all those poor Camaro's and Firebird's that drove off the assembly lines are dead and buried it was such ashame that these machines had to go through life with such a sabby power plant, those motors weren't even worthy of an oil change they were just under powered junk. I'm even surprised they ran on gasoline and not baby formula.

if gm had decided to put in superduty cosworth 2.7 ,the v8 would not be the main motor in the fbody.
the super duty cosworth made 270hp carbed,it would have eaten every v8 at the time.
its sad that gm decided to discontinue the cosworth, but they usualy screw up their own good ideas.

Highly unlikely that GM would have used a racing engine in a production vehicle. While it may have beaten a stock production V8 at the time, it wouldn't have come close to touching a similarly equipped V8 racing engine.

im just saying, gm could have offered a tuned down version.
but they have zero vision of the future, they just assumed people would not buy a hopped up four banger when the v8 was a cheap option.
im willing to bet half the v8 guys would have bought the super duty cosworth instead had it been availble.
but we will never know for sure.

They did offer a tuned down version, the Iron Duke. There's nothing magical about the SD4, if it had been tuned for emissions it would have made about 80 HP too.

no the super duty cosworth was capable of over 500hp na.
the 270hp WAS tuned down.
and it seems gm used emmisions as an excuse to make a bunch of dirt slow cars.
hell a cat and fuel injection should get most cars emmisions down below the legal limit without sacrificing hundreds of hp.
i just wish gm would have been more competitive at the time.
now the cosworth is gone, but the old v8 passes emmisions and makes 400 hp.
it sucks because the cos would have 300hp and pass emmisions with modern tech.
it makes me kinda sad.
