Suggestion for mods/ admins

I have noticed that latly many people have posted new posts when they meant to just reply to it, I understand that you have to put in a topic in order to post a new topic but many people still make this mistake. I think this is because the Post New and the Reply buttons are very close to each other in the same corner.
Maybe an answer to this could be putting the Post New Topic button on the other side.
Not complaining, great site you guys are doing a wonderful job thanks

I personally think this site layout is less confusing than many of the formats that other messages forums have adopted. The problem you mention doesn't seem to happen as often as it does on other sites with the afore mentioned structure.

That's a bit extreme for the situation. It's much more sensible to tell people to pay more attention to what button they press. I think adding a "Transfer $50 from your checking account to TGO Moderator Payroll Fund" button next to reply would help this more than relocating the "New Topic" button.

We already are. Did you think we go through all this for under six figures?

version 3.5.1 works excellent, and I heard it's not more than a hundred bucks.
I'd be glad to toss in some $$ to upgrade....
this site is clumsy to navigate. no bashing going on here, I'm just spoiled from the newer versions I'm used to:

which are a breeze to get through

I would frequent here more often if it were easier to navigate.

just my 2 cents....
I have mentioned this before, but nobody was interested.

UPDATE:
just went to the vbulletin site and found upgrade for 85 bucks...
here's the link:

What you appear to be referring to is a "portal", actually called "vBadvanced". Not really dependent on the vB forum software version, other than that software is supported on 3.X and higher. Their vB forum isn't much different from this site even though it is 3.X, navigation wise.

In my opinion, i don't see any navigation issues and not much different between the forums.

I wasnt saying the site was hard to navigate but just that they should seperate the 2 buttons away from each other...

My response was in regard to this comment by another user:

yes it is very close, but there are some differences...

I was referring to the menu bar at the top of each page that has quick links to the newest posts, my subscribed threads, chat, and search functions, one click access to almost the whole site.
where as on this place I find I have to go through my user control panel to find my subscribed threads, and I also don't see a gallery on here for pictures...

and I'm also having trouble finding the switch to automatically subscribe me to any thread in which I post, I must be overlooking it.

just my 2 cents.

If you want to be automatically notified whenever someone posts to a post that you have posted in or started. All you have to do is click on the "user cp" button and go to the control panel for your profile. Next, click on the "edit options" at the top of the page. Then go down to the section marked "Messaging & Notification" where you will find a line that says use "E-mail by default" and click on "YES". This will allow you to be notified when someone answers your post.

Yep, I already figured that part out.
what I am missing is how whenever I post in a thread, it automatically moves it into my "subscribed threads" folder. so I don't have to do it myself, and/or forget where a specific thread was, and I have to search my posts to find it.

that seems like a huge anyance... then you have to navigate things to remove them later. i am just imagining how full my inbox would be if i had subscribed to the "research and development on trujio intake" thread in the V6 forum. over 200 posts inless then two weeks. most of which were pointless bickering.

i use the "bookmarks" feature on my web browser. in my "automotive" bookmarks there is a TGO folder. it as a link to tgo forums and a folder labled "current threads" where i place bookmarks (one click with firefox) of threads i want to check back on. when the thread dies, or is conlcuded, or i no longer care, i remove it. or if it warrents a re-read later (like the "how toos" on things i want to do later) i move it to my "refference" folder. i was just going through and checking back on a few posts when i found my bookmark to this one. i ahd forgotten all about it.

sorry, I should have been clearer and said:

whenever I post in a thread, it automatically moves it[the link to the thread] into my "subscribed threads" folder. so I don't have to do it myself, and/or forget where a specific thread was, and I have to search my posts to find it.

it doesn't store the WHOLE THREAD in my folder, just the link to it. it's kinda' like looking at a specific forum, it has all the threads in order from most recently replied to at the top, but it's a list of threads I've started or posted in, and if its dead, I can delete it. it does NOT add another link everytime someone else posts, just tells you who the most recent poster is....

it looks just like the subscribed threads page in the 'user cp' on this TGO site.
