will the attachments in the threads be changed back so they automatically show the image in full resolution or will we always have to click on the attachment to bring the picture up? I always liked the fact fact that TGO had the full attachment showed and did not require us to click on a link that said "attachment".

thanks
anthony

PS: thanks for putting all this hard work into this web forum!

I actually think it is better that they are thumb nailed. This helps the low-bandwidth people who may not want to load all attachments, but can see a thumbnail version and then click on the attachment to view full size if they are interested. Just my opinion, not a set in stone on policy.

i understand that point of view, but how many people actually have dial up now? And those that do have it use some sort of speed booster which controls the amount of images that upload automatically.

thanks
anthony

P.S.: like the new skin!

I do not have hard statistics, but I would wager that there is quite a bit based on some figures that I can see. In addition, broadband is not available to everyone and those who do have the option are not automatically subscribers. With looser limits on attachments, having thumbnails are even more important, in my opinion, not only for bandwidth, but for the layout of the forums.

I don't mind clicking on the links. It's setup that way over at turbobuick.com as well, and its not bad at all once you get used to it. And its awesome for people who surf on dialup because they don't have to deal with a page with lots of pics taking 10 minutes to load.

I liked it the way it was before too. I hate having to click all the thumbnails.

By the way, the majority has broadband. Broadband surpassed dialup 2 years ago. Google it.

There is a limit of 3 attachments per thread and 1MB per attachment. Beyond that, there is no limit on the number of attachments any one person may upload.

As to the thumbnails, those are there to keep people from having to download every picture that is posted. This way, you can save on bandwidth and have the pages load faster.

Edit: changed "5 attachments" to "3 attachments".

Thanks for the tip. There is quite a bit of stats floating around about broadband availability, and debate about what is even considered "broadband", that I don't really keep up with those reports. However, even if there was more dialup users than broadband users, it is still possible that in any given group sample, that the stats may contradict this. Meaning, while there could be more broadband users than dialup users, it is possible that the audience that TGO attracts could be more of those dialup users.

But this is getting offtopic. This is the comments/suggestions board, so your comments/suggestions are welcomed. However, it appears the thumbnail option is what the TGO Admins (not just my opinion) believe is best, atleast right now.
