Signature Problem/Question

Why do member's signatures randomly show on one post but not on another? I know I just joined but I've noticed it happens to me and all other members.

For example, they will post in a thread and their sig will show. Later, they will post in that same thread, but their sig will not show. Makes things confusing and annoying, I know I scroll through posts by glancing at member's sigs to see who has posted and who has not. When sigs randomly appear, I have no idea what's going on who's really been posting.

It is the same "customization" that Dirk had on the old vB 2.x software. Basically, to save having to see multiple copies of the same signature by the same user in the same post, by default, when you reply to a thread, the signature box is unchecked. If the user wants to have their signature displayed when they reply to a thread, they must place a check in the 'Show your Signature' box in each case.

However, for users creating a *new* thread, the signature option will automatically be checked if the user has a valid signature.

General board "etiquette" is that you only post with your sig once per thread. After that, it just clutters the post up.

Of course, not everyone follows that guideline.

Awesome thanks, that clarified it all for me. I prefer having everyone post signatures, makes it easier to sort who's posted and who's replied since you last checked a thread.
