Long Signatures

I'm not trying to flame, or start a war here. I just wanted to comment on the fact that a lot of people's signatures are longer than most posts. Maybe they could be limited to 3 or 4 lines? It's gets a little annoying after a while to scan through 30 line signatures to get to the next post w/in a thread.

Just my opinion.

Oh come on now. Some people are so just proud of the K&N Filter they added.

Agreed, keep signatures to 4 lines and a small pic.

Personally, I enjoy the long signatures. It lets you know what other people have done and their results. But then, that's just me.

I don't really mind the signatures for the reasons already stated. If you have to complain about scrolling you should get a mouse that has a wheel or just get over it. I do tech support(yea i know) and i can't stand the people that bitch over the LITTLEST things. No offense to you though.

I have a wheel, but my finger gets tired.
Seriously, though, it's not the scrolling that bothers me. I'm just tired of seeing the same long sigs all the time. Maybe a person could just use their sig when they post to a thread the first time, and then leave it off on subsequent posts on the same thread.

What set me off on the subject was a particular message from an individual who shall remain nameless, because I'm not picking on anybody. He started the thread and didn't get any responses, so he kept replying to his post to send it back to the top. This guy's sig is about 40 lines long. After scrolling through his sig about 5 times, I was just annoyed. Plus, a lot of it is just fluff. I'm not interested in your Bosch plugs and 8mm wires. Do you have a blower? Great! That's the stuff that I want to know about, not the run-of-the-mill stuff.

I have a Word document that outlines all my mods. It's six pages long.... Maybe I should use it in my signature??

What I typically do when posting a reply is to include my signature on my initial reply. I only "sign" my name on subsequent replies in the same string.

I think it should be mandatory to have a signature with at least your name and car (year, make, model and engine). Sometimes it's easily to overlook the fact that others may not know what your car is.

I think links are a great thing to have, also. If we all had a link we wouldn't need signatures.

Willie has an excellent point. I don't know how many times I have seen guys asking for help with their car that is very year/model/engine/transmission dependent and they only have a name like "Another3rdGenner" with no signature whatsoever. Then they wonder why no one is responding to their post...at LEAST if you have a problem and your name or signature doesn't specify what type of year/model/engine/transmission you have, please tell us what you got.

That is why I incorporated my year/model/engine into my name.

But I have to admit, that it does seem funny to see someone respond with a one word answer and then have 40 lines in their signature listing everything on their car, including the brand of oil and gasoline they use.

I can also see it being a problem for people with slow dial-up lines. Thank god I have "Business Grade" DSL.

Damn you, Willie!
I followed the link to your car, looked at the engine pics, and soiled my monitor!

i agree with keeping the signatures but do agree that some are a little long. Mine is a little long but and i have been considering shortening it down. The only ones that are really annoying are the ones that scroll over a screen and a half (and i have a 19 inch monitor so its not the sreen size

is mine too long?? the girls sometimes think so

willie has the right idea show your sig only in the first time in each thread. i try to but am so use to clicking it most of the time i show it with each reply. i never show what mods i've made because it takes too much space and i figure no one cares. on another note you all know this isn't tech right? sorry but i'm locking this thread. thanks for understanding
