Woke up today and thought I would see what was new in the world of TGO. Having had a browser window already open I thought I would just click on new posts. But much to my dismay, it took me to a totally blank page. I refreshed, but still nothing. Just for grins I opened an instance of IE to see if it was Firefox, and low and behold, there was the home page I was looking for. So having that information I thought I would cleanup things in Firefox, you know cookies and cache. So I pointed Firefox to TGO once again and there is the index page once again. So to be able to use the search functionality, I signed in as I normally would, and everything worked as expected UNTIL I attempted to see some pics a user had posted, at which time I had to sign back in, even though I had clicked the 'remember me' box. After signing in half a dozen times I was getting rather fed up and decided to check some of Firefox's other function, and it seems that if you manually remove a websites cookies, it puts said website in the blocked list not to accept cookies. So after modifying that rule, I once again signed in, and once again was given a totally blank page. At that point something popped into my head that I read about others users having a slow/intermittant problem, and how a user 'could' get to the tech board pages, so here I am, and wondering, did we change some lines of code? Did we take on another sponser or flash ad that stops the load of the page if a specific cookie isn't set? Give me a hint here cause logging on as a generic user is bogus. And you do know that unregistered users cant use the the search function, right?

 

No problem. And just like the sign on the urinal says:

"We aim to please, so you aim too, please"

And just for a moment, sit and think about our friends, neighbors, and countrymen off fighting wars and just for that moment, imagine whirled peas.

 

The blank pages are likely due to the APC being re-enabled. We had intermittent problems with it before. Jason will have to resolve that.

I know, and I'm sure the rest of the Admins know as well. Why tax the server with unregistered, or not logged in, users requests? Those users should either register, or log in, to use such features on the TGO forums.

 

Other forums require that too, I can see why so that they can get added members, which makes sense to me.
