Searching Problem
Searching is very annoying to do on this site when you are not sure what you are looking for. I can live with the 1 minute wait time between searches, although I will admit it does discourage searching somewhat. The real problem I have is when it comes back with NO results. If I use some terms that return nothing, even if I do it properly without pressing "stop" or "back" I get this:
Its very frustrating when I am trying search a subject so I dont have to make another redundant post and have people tell me to search and the site just holds me back.
Please don't click "Stop" on your browser and try again or double-click the Search's "Go" button if the site doesn't seem to be responding. Searching is an intensive process and that will only slow down the server for everyone. Please wait a few minutes and try again.
That is a problem with the script that TGO uses. I have mentioned it to Jason, since that is more of his area. In case it matters, everyone (even us Admins) fall into that trap if there is no search result returned. I, too, have to wait the timeout period.
That function, as you probably know, is designed to help flood the server with search requests out of impatience. There was *a lot* of people clicking on the GO button more than a few times because the result wasn't instantaneous. This, in turn, bogs down the server even more.
