Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
You just need to wait 30 days, it is 30 days or 30 posts.
As far as limiting buyers, they can PM you without a problem. Second, you can be scammed as a seller, too.

Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
I more than understand restricting people who want to sell things, but to restrict those who want to buy is cutting those who want to sell off at the knees... Well maybe not that drastic but I joined because of the fact i was looking to buy, and tired of people on ebay not knowing what they were talking about.. now I am stuck here in limbo till i post 30 times.. I honestly rarely post on forums, dont know why, its just the way i am..
Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
I completely agree with the above statement as for I am a new member looking to buy a camaro, preferably an IROC Z28, and I cannot contact any members or post reply to any of the ads. I have been seriously interested in few of cars I have seen and have the money to buy today. I also have a rare 2000 formula NHRA special edition, 1 in 8 hundred and something made in all years available, that I've thought about selling for less than its worth. But now that those cars I like will be gone before I can reply you can just forget this site.
However, you can contact members via the PM (Private Message) function. I haven't checked stats, but I think by large, most people accept PM.
Also, we do make exceptions, especially if asked.

Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
2 weeks ago i bought a 92 firebird and thats when i became a member here. at first i was upset because i needed some parts but couldn't respond in the classified section because of the 30 day/post rule. i realize now that 30 days isn't that long and im sure the parts i need will either still be offered or someone else will offer next month. i think 30 posts are a lot, i have posted a few things but its going to take me awhile to get to 30.
Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
And that was one reason why we added the 30-day option, which initially wasn't a part of the configuration. There are many people who have been registered for months or years with very few posts.

Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
I think the 30 post/day should probably be lowered to at least 15. I think that would probably work better, I wasn't a part of adding this feature and find it a little excessive.
Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
Due to the feedback, I have lowered the restriction down to 15 days/posts. You now must only have 15 posts or be registered for 15 days before you can post in the For Sale sections.
Also, I have removed the restriction on the Wanted section, so that all registered users may now post in the Wanted sections. Therefore, if you're looking for a Camaro, Firebird, or parts for them, you don't have to wait to simply post such an ad.
Thanks.

I agree with this guy. This site is great, and I'd love to be able to buy things off of it. Like this set of Vortec 305 heads from Steve Mack, but I'm to new to the site and it won't let me! The site is great though and has tons of great pics and info. Hopefully I'll be able to post, and buy things soon!

Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
I came to this site specifically to buy something, and I have to admit, it's a huge pain in the *** to have a restriction on when I can post.
This makes craigslist a hell of a lot more attractive.

Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
The majority of our members permit accepting PMs. If you are a serious buyer, you likely will have to communicate with the other party privately anyways.
Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
By the way this thread was created (over 1 year ago) to get feedback before the feature was implemented. Since implemented, it has been adjusted a few times based on feedback.

Re: Site Suggestion : NEED FEEDBACK
People, please listen to JT and what he's saying.
You can EASILY contact the seller/buyer by sending them a private message (PM). That should be actually the preferred method of communication in case of a transaction.
It's not that big of a limitation and its purpose is to block scammers and spammers.
I'd think that the last thing you'd want to do if you came to this site to buy parts or a car, is to send your hard earned money to a "member" with 1 post who's been registered for 1 day just to never see your money or hear from the seller again. That's exactly what the administrators here are trying to protect us from. It's for OUR own good!
Hope this helps.
