New Forum needed

I had a post about a model closed because it wasn't about Appearance or Detailing, which I understand. My problem is that there is not a General Topics Forum. I have noticed other posts in that Forum about models, which is why I posted it there. So, where do I post threads of a general nature? (Third-gen related of course)

ThirdGen.org has been, for much of it's existence, a technical-only website. We currently do not have plans for a "non-tech" forum in the sense of "free reign" and/or "anything goes" (basically a "lounge"). This has been covered here: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/prob...-non-tech.html

But for topics like yours, I can see the point. Having something like a memorabilia forum (merely an example), might be worth us considering.

I'll do some reviewing and consulting. Thanks.

That is my understanding as well. But models/toys aren't exactly part of "restoration" nor technically "history". There has been some recent events where a seperate memorabilia forum would appear more fitting for items such as books, toys/models, etc. If not a seperate board, an existing board should probably make it more clear to accepting them.

IMHO, they are a big part of History. When we say History I think "the History of Thirdgens" and part of that is the models. It goes hand in hand with posters, advertisement, and tv commercials. But, just my opinion

Yeah I think you're right about the history part. I consider the posters, advertisements and commercials a part of the history myself. Why not models/toys?

I'm not sure if there is enough material to warrant a seperate forum (subforum?). But I see a several requests for a seperate section for all the models/toys and some requests for a book section to "review". John (okfoz) had inquired about a book section at one time as well.

I'm open to feedback.

Okay, I understand :-) I do agree that there is insufficient content for a subforum.

Yes, that's my initial concern as well. So perhaps the history forum needs to be a bit more clear on accepting models/toys if that is the decision we take, since some have seen it not to be clear.

Which brings me back to an existing thought when this was brought up before of perhaps having a webpage for the material, and not exactly a forum for discussion. There's quite a bit of models and toys for the the Third Gen. Information about those models/toys with pictures supplied by members would probably be a nice addition.

By the way, AmorgetRS moved the multi-post thread from the Appearance and Detailing forum over to the History/Restoration forum and unlocked it.

I did the same for your Iroc-z model thread:
