Suggestion for carburetor forum
I was thinking, after reading up on many resources and tinkering with my carb on my own and reading alot on here, that it would be cool if there were a sticky in the carb forum where you post your engine size, carb size, carb type, engine setup, trans/stall, and rear gears and then list your carb/timing settings, along with tuning notes you found along the way. I think it would give people who are in the dark about tuning a ballpark area to start, or those considering a swap an idea of which carb to get for their application based on other users results. For example, mine would look like:
------------------------------------
-355ci Smallblock
-Holley 750cfm VS 4160 carb
-Comp XR270HR-10 Cam (more details if you have them)
-Brodix IK 200 heads w/ 64cc chambers at about 10:1 compression
-700R4 Transmission, stock stall and 2.73 rear gears
-12* idle timing
------------------------------------
------------------------------------
-Stock secondary metering plate
-#69 primary jets (running rich with stock #72s)
-Holley dark green accel pump arm
-Stock .25 squirter (tried a size .32 to get rid of a slight bog off idle and made it worse, led me to believe that I was using too much fuel, so instead went back with stock .25 squirter and tried smaller accel pump cam, which worked out.
-Opened secondary butterflies slightly with adjustment screw to improve idle
-------------------------------------
Now I know its almost impossible to come across an identical combo, and I know that one aspect of a setup can throw things off a little, but I think it gives somebody something to shoot for. Like if somebody is getting a bog off idle, they may read my testimonial and realize that they might be getting TOO much fuel going into acceleration and then can start off in the right direction instead of trying to add more fuel to the equation like I did with the squirter. May save them money by trying a cheaper method (i.e. buying the cheaper accel pump cams, instead of buying a 50cc accelerator pump conversion kit like a buddy of mine did).
Just an idea.

Re: Suggestion for carburetor forum
It would be far more useful for people to learn the theory behind the operation of their carbs so that they can make informed tuning decisions and part selections.
