**update** 89 Hardtop WCT5 Iroc.
i've done alot of little tweaks since the last update but this is the only big major visable change in awhile.
yesterday i switched in the bent and battered hood (junk) for a new red Iroc hood, and the old, beat up, drilled (***** wing) hatch for an entirly new hatch!!!
Also did some quick damage repair on that nasty driver quarter panel. Banged it out enough to remove the broken spoiler and put on a new one so the body guy can match the quarter panel. Also replaced the light while i was at it as it was cracked from the damage.
I also got my new (well... used) shifter and shifter plate in the mail from Thirdgen.org. Now i can actually shift my car!
Thanks to you guys at TGO for all of these parts. the hood and shifter both came from guys here. I have to go put classified feedback for them!
lastly, i bought new hood shocks today. nasty little things.

anyways, Update:
~Removed about 1000000 feet of that crappy blue stripe tape
~Removed the driveshaft
~Removed the transmission
~Removed the shifter
~Removed the bellhousing, clutch, and flywheel
Its so exciting . My dad just wanted to take the tranny in and clean it up this week. There is also a bearing inside the tranny that is making a touch of noise and he wants to check it out before he puts it back in. I should have it back by next Saturday.
I also have to grab the special tool to get the rear main seal changed. It is definitly the oil leak i was dealing with, the entire back of the engine/front of the tranny is sprayed with oil (in a circular pattern)
that means next weekend is time to put everything back in the car.
and next monday is inspection time

And look at this floorpan. Exactly why i bought this car:

Oh and i forgot, It flies too

Very Nice. Coming along nicely. I would love to get a project like that. Do you plan on keeping it black? And how soon do you think it will be before the 350 is done?

Re: **update** 89 Hardtop WCT5 Iroc.
yes it will stay black.
There has been alot of confusion on the engine. For the past few weeks i HAD changed my mind and decided to do an LS1 swap.
however as we really start getting into summer here, I'm having to change my plans. I can't get a summer job. There are none to be found, and if you can find one, its 18 or older, OR they want somewhere there for more than just the summer.
because of that im back to the 383 plan. or 350 to start. you can see that in this thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...-get-some.html
----------
thank you. Should be on the road with the 305 (something has been done to his thing. its way too powerful for stock 305TPI
) by monday. I have a new video camera and a full set of tires to get rid of too. Just by coincidence

I'll get some as soon as i can give her a good scrub. Theres still such a thing as show prepped, even for a car that needs paint
btw. what i mean by done is that shes ready for the road. I cant wait to get her inspected.
After that, i just gotta get 4 NEW tires, so i can roast the 4 OLD tires

heres some shots of the inside since i've done some work to it. These are my new seats. Only $30 for the pair (with tracks. which i needed!)

Ah yes. And my dads picking up 2 used tires tommorrow. Turns out i only need 2 new ones cause one had a leak that we fixed. The 225 60 16s are going on the front, and 245 50 16s are going on back.

Honestly i don't expect this engine to last long. It runs stronger than it has any right too, but it is old. Whats that saying about how a bulb burns brightest before it burns out?? I'm not entirly sure that has anything to do with engines but who knows
. That's why we're trying to get the L98 block worked over and 383-ified asap.~is kinda wishing my dad would pick up the tab for ANY of this.

The hood and hatch will not be painted until winter, when the whole car is going to be painted.
I know it will pass inspection on the first go around because my dad is inspecting it. No that doesn't mean he'll just pass it. It means he's already done an inspection at our house and everything needed to pass has been fixed. The only way it could fail is emissions.

Don't worry, if the condition of the Iroc was even close, it'd be in there. After all, my sisters mustang was parked outside until she sold it (though she said shes getting another one in a few months?). Also, the Iroc can't go inside cause it kinda already is. It's a 2 car garage, and the second car spot is filled with 2 SBCs, all kinda of exterior pieces, gears, wiring, diagrams, tools, and random stuff. Mostly pertaining to the camaro.

lessons from my test drive earlier today:
note to self: do not floor TPI engine while it's down pouring. You will not have traction.
note to self #2: windshield wipers work
