My $1000 Camaro.

I have been looking to replace my 86 Iroc since I sold her almost 10 years ago to pay off my 99 2500 Silverado. Very sad day in my life as the Iroc was my first F body and car. I vowed to buy another one when I had the space and time. We'll that time has come because I wrecked my Silverado on 2-14. The damage doesn't look that bad but the frame is bent I think and so does my neighbor who is a diesel mechanic. With that in mind I'm planninga LSx swap. Truck has a lq4 and a 4l80e trans.

Found this 89 Camaro engine letter F. Went and looked at it the floorboards need to be replaced. The rear subframe is also disconnected from the body on the driver'side. So before I start driving her I'm going to put in some patch panels so I can hook everything back up. Also the pass side tire does not looked centered is their a way to fix this?

I have only seen a handful of any 3rd Gen in my area now a days. Everyone wants a $@?! Honda or other import.

Re: My $1000 Camaro.

Very rarely do I see a good Condition Thirdgen in my area. Even the few car shows I've been to in this area had no Thirdgen entered. Did insurance say the truck was totalled? Turbo charging the truck engines is very popular and cheap nowadays. Even the mustang guys are taking them! Was the Camaro drivable before you bought it?

Re: My $1000 Camaro.

The insurance doesn't know lol. And only no fault here. The Camaro does drive still. Was looking at it a Lil while ago. The maf sensor was unplugged so I plugged it in and now it won't stay running when starting. As soon as I unplug it it will stay running when starting. Plugging it in while running doesn't make it stall.

Hi Rule69. I'm jealous you have a TPI! Seriously , looks like a good project. I like the blue color. Wished my car was as good as that one looks. Hope you share the build process with us. I'm new around here too. Thanks for sharing your car!

Thanks Dave. Hope that the few issues I have right now let me drive her in the near future.

Thinking of painting it Daytona Blue. Inside and out. Been my favorite color for years.

Im planning on it. I just have to fix her up kinda quick and cheap as possible at the moment because my family only has one car right now and my wife is trying to go back to work now that my youngest is 1 as of yesterday.

Re: My $1000 Camaro.

Power steering pump went out. Have the parts to fix it an a new line. Think I'll get some new break line and bend a little longer return line

Re: My $1000 Camaro.

I'm a bit confused... You said it was an '89, but it has 91-92 style GFX, and a motor that is an '87 or older since it's not a serpentine setup. The wheels are correct though and it looks like a great project! Have fun and good luck on you LS swap!
