Re: Trans Am Nationals 2016

Someone in the fall threw out the idea that we should make some type of TGO graphic to print out on a card or something with a space to add our username to see who at the Nats is from the forum.

That was me. I went last year and it would have been great to have such a graphic for car shows with our usernames on it to show on the dash. I think this would be great for any shows and I hope some of the admins on this site will pick up the idea. Making a generator would not be a big deal and would advertise their site which would drum up more hits for their advertisers!

If they dont do it I will. copywrites be damned...

I think that is a great idea. I was thinking something along those lines too. It would be nice to meet some of the people that we are talking to on here. If copywright is an issue, don't use the logo. It would be easy to make some form of a paper dash plaque that could be downloaded an printed. Use any basic format from any car show and add a line for username.

If you have never gone before then its definitely something you should try to see. Even if you dont have your car in the show its always a great time to cruise out and see what everyone else has going on. Can't wait to make the trip out again after a year or 2 of not making it.

Re: Trans Am Nationals 2016

I am going, it will be my 6th or 7th year in a row. I always want to take a car, but the weather never seems to cooperate. Will see how this year goes. gsonor, they have a new class this year called driver/work in progress, which is non judged and is just for display-then you can park on the show field. If I take a car I will be in this class-don't want the hassle of showing as my only experience with it was pretty negative. WAY too competitive and at the time, the judges were very non educated on 3rd gens. I think it has gotten better the last several years with having more informative judges.

That's a good option. I'm not really into the competitive side of it either. I might just do that!

That's where my stuff would go, project/driver classes.

Re: Trans Am Nationals 2016

Agreed - project/driver. I don't like to compete in shows so that class would suit me well. I'm pretty good at knowing the defects in my cars, don't need to pay an extra fee for somebody else to tell me about them.

The problem with the DD/ project class is that it costs the same as a judged class.. ugh

Yeah, I think enough people hinted around on FB to make this class a smaller fee, but they did not "get it". Biggest advantage is, you can park in the hotel lot with all the show cars. They were kind of uncooperative last year about letting us park our truck at the hotel. We were guests there but did not bring a car. We had to park in the back and at times it was full but we managed.

Re: Trans Am Nationals 2016

Reviving this. I plan on taking my 85 T/A down for the event. I am not into competing in the car show, so I'll be in the project/DD class OR we'll just hang out and not register the car. My car is a driver and definitely not show worthy.

I really just want to check out the event, I've always wanted to go and never have, so this year we're gunna make it happen.

Not staying at the show Hotel, probably jut going to book our own Hotel in Dayton. The wife and I will be down for the whole weekend, so the idea is to hit up the show on Saturday and spend the rest of the time checking out the city.

Will be driving down from the Toronto area on the Friday if anyone wants to meet up for a stretch of the drive.

Booked ourselves at the Hilton Garden Inn in Beaver Creek; close to the show and an easy drive into downtown Dayton. Anyone else staying there?
