Kinda curious how many people on here still daily drive their thirdgens. Ive been told on multiple occasions that these cars are not reliable and I seem to disagree. Like any vehicle proper maintenance is key and you will be fine. I live in NJ and I drive mine everywhere
I drive mine all year round. Do the regular maintenance. keep her happy and she gets me where i need to go every time
...... well 97% of the time, is a camaro after all
I have driven mime daily for over 10 years now.
I paid $500.00 for it and it needed =
Paint , a fuel pump ,water pump , power steering unit ,new steering column/ VATS module ,intake manifold gasket, front windshield ,new front bumper cover and lower valance, new rear hatch and motor, some of the interior including front seats, head liner ,door skins. ,center consul ,etc., etc.
I have also replaced almost every exterior engine component including all sensors and senders.
Runs like a champ now. 10 years of hard but fulfilling work so far.

Coming in late as usual.. I daily drove my 91 tbi from highschool till this summer when I got a little excited decided to go out Honda killing without checking my oil and gave her a mild case of rod knock. Now I'm daily driving my 87 TA until I find the time to fix my baby. As for reliability I decided to purple power my engine bay and wiped out every sensor on the top end of the engine.. Still drove fine just had to use ether on the first morning startup every day. Now if the car has VATS that's another can of worms usually involving being 5 mins late to work when it rains. So that's about 5 years of daily driving a used and abused tbi car even in the snow and ice and a vow to continue once I get her running right again.

Reason: Picture
When I had my '91 RS about 8 years ago, it was my daily driver. And cold driveability was far better than any carburetor I ever drove, even the CCC QJ. So now that my '86 Camaro is non-running during the engine swap, I'm buying a '91 'bird LO3 / T5 to be my daily driver all winter.
Daily-driving a TBI V8 third-gen? YES!
I have been daily driving my '91 GTA since I bought it in '99, although it is a TPI and not a TBI as stated in the title. For three years, prior to the GTA, I daily drove my '88 Formula that had TBI. Now, I switch back and forth between the GTA and my new-to-me '92 T/A convertible (w/TPI). I've had my issues from time-to-time, but regular maintenance and actually paying attention to the car prevent any catastrophic issues.
I had a '92 Caprice wagon with the 305 TBI. I put 60k miles on it and the only engine related repairs were an ignition module and an upper radiator hose. That best ratio of miles per repairs I have had for any vehicle, including Hondas and Toyotas.
Now I have my Camaro 305 TBI and a Suburban with the 350 TBI. I have a company vehicle so I don't drive either a ton, but they both seem to be reliable for their age.
