I'm trying to install my be-cool radiator, but it's a little too tall for the space available. Be-Cool is supposed to be a direct fit. Some on this site said the Be-Cool fit without modifications. Others said it wasn't a direct fit. The side of my radiator is hitting part of the metal frame, and that prevents it from resting against the rubber stops. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to do some trimming with a dremel?

 

 

I would definetely not be ok with fitment like that video. Stock rad replacement is what I just put in. Very happy with it

 

I Hate When Aftermarket Companies Say A Part Is A Direct Fit,And When You Try To Install It,It Isn't.

 

I don't have my old radiator to measure and compare. I'll check the lower section of the radiator to make sure it's seated properly. It is odd that be-cool would claim direct fit.

 

You will have to trim the rubber isolators at the bottom to make it fit. The picture attached is of the "direct fit" manual trans rad. I forget the PN off the top of my head. Also the fan shroud is from a 99 Camaro.

 

Johnw99, On numerous older muscle cars - where an upgraded radiator was necessary due to heat/figment issues, we have measured the amount of space we needed, cut the radiator saddle, dropped it down and re welded it to whatever space/place we needed. Pretty simple to do, especially considering you have the motor out and radiator out. Tac the saddle in place to verify it is in the correct location. ACE Hardware also has 1/8" flat rubber you can use to rivet in any place that you are concerned about metal on metal. This assumes you are not concerned about originality. Byron

 

I have this installed in my 84 T/A. You have to hog out the inside of those rubber bump stops on the bottom for both width and depth. Mine were nearly gone in the center to get the depth right. Otherwise mine fit perfectly with their adapter bracket on the top.
