Re: Non Popup HID projector firebird install

Interesting. I was thinking it would be interesting to do a low-rise setup with projectors, but I wasn't sure that it would be possible. Now that I've seen these pictures, I'm sure it is. I don't know what one would do with the black plastic part, although separating it from the pop-up part and making them pop downward could be interesting.

so for a wake the dead situation here lets resurrect this post. I liked your delete idea to begin with. I'm curious tho. Do you suppose the Camaro's dual headlights could be installed behind the lexan? I feel even by a simple swap like that we could stretch the lexan down to the bumper and run a piece over the turn signals to reduce what little drag we already have. Opinions?

sure. I don't see that being a problem. Camaros have it easier than birds as you have a ton of room for headlights. The bucket area has lexan Gto covers produced already so making your own should be easy. If I had a camaro with all the extra room my mind would be going crazy with ideas. The birds have a very narrow pocket to fit under the low hood line... very limiting. However the turn signals are half way down and separate from the headlight buckets right? I wouldn't try to push the lexan down that far.

Also not sure why I didn't update this thread but they have been done and have worked very well. Thinking of the fogs now, stock housings with HIDs kills the cutoff of the projectors. Will prob retrofit another projector as I have so many lying around. Or might try a LED cube light.

i swapped the main projectors out for morimoto 7.0 and very happy with their output and it's a huge upgrade over the cheap projectors. Thinking I might change the other set out but it's a mute point lol. I only drive with one set on as it's more than enough.

Well there's the thing. I'm curious if I couldn't swap out camaro lights into the firebird and then make the lexan cover. We wouldn't have quite the bucket I don't think. Our turn signals sit directly next to the pop ups. I don't think it would take much to extend the lexan over to the turn signal and finish sealing the hood to bumper gap.

I didn't know the popups in their entirety weighed upwards of 50lb.
Looks like they got to go.

How did you protect the bowl of the projector from the elements? Did you wrap something around the gap under the shrouds? It looks amazing.

Re: Non Popup HID projector firebird install

Heres mine. Did this about 20 years ago. The quality of the projectors available now is much better. Thinking about redoing it.
