What is this Connector?
HI all first post here, as we've just started on our '89 5.7.
Does anyone know the part number for the connector wire, or (maybe it's temp sensor?) it's coming from part #17087263 and is broken off.

Car: Yes
Engine: Usually
Transmission: Sometimes
Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: What is this Connector?
That's a vacuum connection, not electrical. A hose goes there. Maybe the one laying on top of it.

Re: What is this Connector?
Yes the one laying on top of it would be a good choice, that's why i showed it all in the pic. I was just trying to find out what exactly the whole thing was. Thank you for the quick response. As you see from that same hose laying on the top, it has a connector on the end, so is there a part number for that entire hose piece with connector?

Re: What is this Connector?
The part number is probably going to be for a roll of generic vacuum hose. None of the items you have pictured appear to be hoses. The plot is not visible here. You appear to have multiple things unplugged and disconnected.

OK thank, then I guess I am very confused as to what i'm asking and showing. The picture shows the two ends circled in green. These two ends were connected and broke off. The connector you see in the picture is the other end of the circled broken off part of hose/cable, that's the only thing disconnected in the picture.

Re: What is this Connector?
That wire is not for that part. The part in question will be connected to a HOSE, not a wire. Maybe someone tried to shove that into the hose nipple but it doesn't belong there.

Uhh... Two things...
Early TPI cars have an EGR temp sensor. The sensor and the dismembered wire are visible in your pic...

The sensor screws into the base of the EGR valve. The connector should be back by the coil and EGR solenoid, IIRC.
The vacuum line to the EGR valve should come from the solenoid also, with another line from the solenoid to the bottom of the throttlebody.

Re: What is this Connector?
Drew that's what it looked like to me, but am the noob, so just listening to what others have thought and getting more confused. I had to screw the dismembered part off of the EGR once I found the hose laying loose. I found it on ebay now, however, if i wanted to replace the EGR valve, do the newer ones i found find not have this type of connection?
Thank you very much!

You can delete the EGR with a block off plate. And remove all that crap.

Re: What is this Connector?
So it's really not needed and won't throw a check engine or other code by doing so?
Thank you!

Re: What is this Connector?
Technically, yes you would need a chip tuned to delete the EGR function - which all you do for that is increase the EGR enable temp to 300* and then it will never attempt to turn it on, therefore it will never check for proper operation.
A chip is very inexpensive - in the neighborhood of $75 to $100 depending on who you go with. Contact member "TunedPerformance" here on the board for a quote.
As a bonus, if you go this route, you can also lower the coolant temp setpoints and install something like a 180 thermostat.
There are multiple benefits to a custom tune so that's where I would spend the money rather than replacing all these broken and missing parts.

Re: What is this Connector?
Also - get a kit off ebay to replace all the TPI runner bolts with stainless socket head allen bolts instead of the factory torx stuff. Much easier and you can get a ball-tipped 1/4" drive socket to install them with.

Re: What is this Connector?
Incidentally, that temperature "sensor" is actually just a switch. A thermal switch can be installed on the EGR base to make it functional to replace the now obsolete original switch. Something like a 125°C Klixon 7985 can work.
