Great PS work! . . A grey or black center would kick butt on that!
Thanks! Do you recognize the wheels?
I really love these GTA wheels and want them to work, but something about them just isn't clicking on the white Camaro. Maybe it's the shade of gold (but again, I'd have to see in person as photoshops don't convey the right color). It seems a bit more yellow/pale on the Hawks, whereas pictures of originals tend to be a little darker. Not sure if it's an age thing or just paint differences.
Not a fan of black centers on a white car, and the refinishing required to go gray or some other color starts to put the price up into fully custom wheels.
My gold rims arrived today and they do look good. Searching for 275/40R17 tires and I will say there are a lot of options available. I think I will go ahead and put that size at all 4 corners.
We have sets of Continental Extreme DWs and Falken 615k in 275-40-17
on our "shop wheels". You also can't go wrong with the BFG summer tires.

Absolutely run that size tire on all 4. I chose BFG and really happy with them.
Plus they're priced even better now.
Was that you looking at my wheels at Ruby's?Thought you were checking out the brakes.
That was me! Your car looks great.
I'd probably own a set of these if my car wasn't white. Not looking for the black wheels on white look, and I'm unsold on the shade of gold with a white car. Hawks said they'd repaint them any color for several hundred extra, though.
Does anyone know if they will clear LS1 or C5 vette brakes? Dont know if I missed it or not.
I am running front LS1 brakes on my 87 GTA and they clear, the caliper is very close to the back side of the crosslace part of the wheel, I am running the 1/4 spacer because of that and will try removing the spacer to see if any contact is made. Will update once that is done.
Would love some new black lace wheels for the bird, my 16x8s are showing the miles. 18s sound nice, but not here in pot-hole city. Clearance for bigger brakes would be great too (ls1 fronts barely fit). All I need now is extra $$!

I emailed Hawks over the holidays about pricing and shipping. Didn't hear back till after the new year. I sure didn't get that price.
The pricing was right up on their website. I think they were doing 20% off all Hawks products for the holidays. I just couldn't pass these up for $672 that's such a smoking deal! I can't wait to install them on my 92 TA Vert!

Hey, open and check them all when you get them. I got 3 that were all the same shade of gold and one that was WAY light, so they had to get me another one. I get in on the Christmas sale too

Re: ANNOUNCING GTA 17x9 MESH WHEEL SETS!!!!
The only thing that would change ride height would be if the overall diameter of the tire was greater than the diameter of the old tire. The wheel will not change the ride height on it's own.
There are tire size calculators out there, to calculate the diameter of your old tire (say 245-50R16 to 275-40R17 and 255-45R17 I think are all the "same" diameter, but I do not exactly perfectly remember.)
Hard to tell on computers, as colors vary depending on monitor settings- but how does the gold color compare to the original wheels?
Being on a very strictly monitored budget on my GTA, I was actually thinking a staggered installation with the stock fronts and these on the rear with a slightly larger outer diameter than stock tire on the back would be interesting. The 'staggered' wheel fitment thing didn't last long back in the day, but it did provide an interesting look.
I just received a set, I can put them next to my stockers, I think that would be the best comparison without being in person. I'll try and remember to do that as soon as I get home.
I don't know your plans for the car, but I know if you are going to want to autocross or track it, you'll want the same size on all 4 corners. General driving, or shows, do what you want.

I think the plans for the car is it will just be a toy. I have a dedicated autocross/track car already and a vintage convertible for shows, so this is the "just goofing off around town" car and probably will be given to my son when he's old enough to drive.
I really like the look of the black lace wheels, have any pics of the whole car with the new wheels on? I'm wondering if I should powder coat/plasti-dip them black before mounting tires/ installing them on the car.

they really did nail the look on those wheels... thanks for doing the comparison. the color on the gold ones is probably pretty close to what the originals were. The offset looks great- the original rears look silly with less lip and sitting too far under the car- the new wheels look as if they solve both of those problems.
Looking at the color of the repros they are not too far off the ones on my 1989 GTA.
Cool! Thanks for the info. I'm getting more and more convinced I should get these, but the car really needs a few other things first. We'll have to see how the summer plays out.

Re: ANNOUNCING GTA 17x9 MESH WHEEL SETS!!!!
One thing to consider is that there was more than one "gold" color on the wheels. The early cars (86-87) were more of a "Champagne Gold" the later cars were a brighter gold like what Hawks has done. When Hawks was working on these they asked me about what color code they were originally. So I know they were doing their best to make them match the original color.
