UMI SFC Visibility

Are the UMI SFC visible from the side? I heard you can pinch weld them pretty much the entire length so that would seem to indicate they tuck up nicely, but I also heard that they are very similar to UMR and those have some gap. Spohn tubular hide the best IIRC but I don't want to weld round tubing. If you have a pic, please post it.

You have to look under to see them. They're about 98% hidden and tuck in nicely.

Looks nice, but who ever put that car on a cinder block needs to get hit in the head with that 4x4 block of wood.

I went with a set of UMI because they looked like good pieces and also didn't show when looking at it from the side of the car.

BottledZ28, I emailed UMI a couple weeks ago and they said the next sale was going to be black Friday. Last year they had a 10% off and free shipping for Thanksgiving.

Here's some prices:
Summit- $247.99 (but will beat a price by $1 lol)
Jegs- $239.99
LMPerformance- $229.00 (took $10 off to beat Jegs )
UMI- $283.40 (includes shipping to Central Illinois, $43.41)
UMI w/ 10% off and free ship- $215.99
All prices includ shipping.

I didn't contact Jegs but they price match as well and had a sale in January for $177.09 shipped which is definitely worth looking into. UMI also has them on eBay but its almost $300. In case anyone was wondering, UMI replied in under 4 hr, LMPerformance in 9.5 hr and Summit in like 2.5 days.

I have UMI sfc's. I cannot imagine there are any better fitting more tightly tucked up connectors anywhere out there. They fit perfect. Very happy with them.

Safety issue. The block will not withstand forward and backward movement as positioned in the photo. Also, if one block fails the rest will likely follow as the car drops and shifts.

Can be demonstrated by taking a single block and dropping it on a corner.

I also have UMI connectors and have been very happy with them. They are one of the brands that box in the body side of the rear lower control arm mount. They do not hang low but they can be seen when you get down to eye level with the bottom of the car/floorpan. However, when you are that low you can see the exhaust, A arms, differential and rear sway bar so I don't see why it matters if you can see an aftermarket SFC.

My only suggestion to UMI is to offer a version of these that is for guys that run an exhaust down the transmission tunnel, ie long tubes. It would just be a mirror of the drivers side connector. I question the effectiveness of that dinky little connector that is to be used in conjunction with the stock exhaust.

I question the effectiveness of that dinky little connector that is to be used in conjunction with the stock exhaust.
My exhaust isn't quite stock, and I couldn't use that connector. Can't really scientifically "test" what the effects of not having it are, but I know the car will teeter on speed bumps.

abubaca... your exhaust setup looks just like mine. I havd the dyno-dons hearders, to his ypipe, then a welded on magnaflow spun cat, to the : echaust with my electric cutout mounted in just the same spot. however, I do not have a turndown like you do on the end of it. I have wanted to, but never did. not sure if you ran the car around without it and then with it and noticed a difference of noise/tone/sound wave reverberating etc?? I should get one, a nice polished or stainless one like you have. what brand is that?
