Wow, thanks BillG! I didn't realize it was that easy. I have been on his channel before but I must have overlooked it. I think I can rob my V8 mounts from the 350 in the garage... haha. I doubt the V6 ones will work.
Well here is the pan, pick up tube, dipstick, and dipstick tube I picked up last night. Also came with a basically brand new gasket. Came out of a LS1 swapped FD RX7... haha.
Everything needs a good cleaning. He ended up starving the engine of oil by accident and it led to catastrophic destruction...
Not a bad score for $50! All that is left to buy is the windage tray which is $20. His was... destroyed lol.
Great find man. I planned on running my 4.8 til I found a 6.0(staying naturally aspirated) to throw in but I'm gonna be watching this to see how it goes. Might just rebuild and turbo if the cost isn't too big.
Not much to update! Just keeping an eye out for used parts.
Got the car back on the ground to enjoy for another week or so. I pushed out four wheel studs. Not my finest hour for sure, I forgot to re-torque the 1" adapters. Shout out to BigBrakeUpgrade.com (Scott) for being so helpful. Purchased a set of ARP wheel studs and he was able to put them in for me in just a few minutes!
So since this car is going from a V6 to an LSX, I decided the cheaper motor mount option would be using the sbc motor mounts with the itc lsx adapter plates.
Sourced a LS1 Intake with LS6 rail and injectors for $100 from a friend, and then an FBody water pump for free from another friend! Can't beat that... haha
Hopefully cleaning up the engine this week and mocking stuff up in order to drop it in after I pull the V6. I want everything ready to go from the motor mounts to the bellhousing bolts. After the engine is in I can worry about wiring and mocking up / building the turbo kit.

Yep they have the ability to set the engine back 1 inch. They seem to be very highly recommended mounts.
Picked up the LS1 Intake and LS6 fuel rails + Injectors from Mike. Thanks again buddy! It is really going to help this build go along. I believe that I have pretty much picked up all the "larger" craigslist items. Now it is time to order misc. bolts and gaskets to assemble the engine.
Question for the guru's, will this bracket set work for my needs? I already have an fbody water pump!
Just a little update picture! Ordering bolts and gaskets this week to start assembly. Not going to bother taking off the heads at all. I popped off the valve covers and everything looked good. I'll have some ls6 injectors for sale here soon as they are way to small for what I'm doing.
As for an update, I'm roughly $750 in so far. That covers the complete 4.8, harness, computer, cruise control module, 4l60e, rebuilt stock stall, LS1 Fbody Oil pan and oil accessories, ls1 intake manifold, ls6 fuel rail & injectors, Wastegate, BOV, and manual boost controller. Not doing to bad!
Here is a gas station picture from a few days ago. Please excuse the car, it really needs a polish and wash... haha. The wheels are e38 m-pars. IIRC the offsets are +13 and +25. I can get more specs if you would like. I am running a 1" adapter in the front and a 4th gen rear end. It is very flush.
I actually just took the V6 turbo kit off last night and shipped it to its new owner today. Need to pull the 3.1l then we can really get started!

Glad to see your budget is moving along as planned and that you got the ole v6 apart. I'm sure the new owner will love the turbo kit.
Not much to update here, school started a few weeks ago and takes up 90% of my time. The other 10% goes towards family and girlfriend... haha
Got some free time today and started removing everything left to pull the engine. Still need to remove the torque arm, transmission cross member, and the motor mount bolts. Not to shabby for two hours worth of work. Even got the front bumper off!
Putting in my summit order here soon. Getting the needed gaskets and bolts along with spark plugs. A local motor sports place is letting me order my ICT Billet motor mount plates and bracket kit with their discount.
Should I skip the GT45 and look at something smaller in that price range? Would a T70 be to small? Honestly, I'm uneducated on what would be the perfect fit. As a street car I'm looking for a quick spool on the street and an easy 450-500 wheel horsepower.
Fuel pump discussion. Will a walbro 400 fit in tank easy? I have heard a lot of people use dual 255's but a single pump seems like it would have less issues. What are you guys using? The car will probably start on pump but I would look to go e85 down the road.
Not much to update. Pulled valve covers and took apart coil brackets to get sandblasted and painted. Ordering random bolts and gaskets through summit, getting my ICT Billet brackets soon as well.
Selling more V6 stuff to fund the build. Doing pretty well!
Picking up a VS Billet 7875 from my buddy Tyler this weekend. Thanks bud!
Should work great with my power needs. Ordering about $120 worth of bolts, gaskets, fittings, etc from summit as well to get the engine ready to drop in.
Has anyone bought these??/ $145 seems like a steal. I see the prices for these deka's all over.
I ran those on my car (6) 80lbs the only thing difference was they "said" it was rated for e85 as well. But I never had a issue with them. Only used them for about 1k miles though...
Although i was sketchy at first as well, use to southbay which always worked like a charm. I didnt have the ebay ones long enough to really see how good they were. A fuel injector sticking open or closed on a turbo car can be a bad bad thing.
I know what you mean mark. Judging from my other research it seems like these are the "go to" for the turbo lsx guys. Deka 80's seem pretty popular. Just a matter of matching the length and connector style.
Well here are some update pictures! Ordering the stuff to drop the engine in next weekend. Hopefully all goes as planned. If anyone has a 4l60e cross member I'm entertaining buying one.
Picked up the VS Racing billet 7875! So pretty. Painted the engine bay, removed v6 mounts, and removed a broken exhaust bolt as well.
Thanks Bill, I'm updating this as much as I can. Glad to know you are still watching!
Yeah if someone has some insight to the fuel system and the 3 bar map sensor question that would be great! I'm still a fair bit away from there. Hoping to have the engine in the car next weekend!

If anyone has a 4l60e cross member let me know!
is there a difference in the 4l60e/700r4 crossmember?
did some googling. I see the 4l60 mount is further back than the 700r4. I didn't know that, but I bet it wouldn't hard to modify the factory piece if you have a welding machine.
Yep! The plan is to just modify my stock one. We will see... haha
Got the engine all finished up. Not to shabby if I say so myself. The power steering and alternator brackets were extremely well done. Very happy with the outcome, should leave me with a lot of room under for building the crossover. Plan is to modify the truck manifolds, but need to decide if I want to do the drivers or passenger side.

Learned the ICT Billet GT42 Flange will not work with the VSR 7875. Also, even though it is the right spacing for the oil pan feed, it draws oil from the middle. Hence, it will not work there either.

Hey man I am jealous lol. That engine looks fantastic. Good job!
Thanks Rob! I appreciate it. It sure has turned out nice for how little I have into it. Should look pretty good once everything is done as well. Trying to decide how I want to do the intercooler piping and some other stuff. We will see I guess. Trying not to go to flashy with the polished finished.
Got the oil pan on last weekend. The bottom end looks good. A little dark, but nothing bent or froze. No shavings in the oil either so that is good! Fbody oil pan went right on and the ls1 windage tray from Jegs fit great. Hopefully will be putting the engine in next weekend.
Has anyone put a lsx/4l60e in at the same time or am I asking for to much trouble? Also, I have seen people not have to modify the k-member and others who have.
I think with 1 inch set back plates you shouldn't have to modify the k member. I hope you don't anyway. If you're concerned I'd mount the trans in car and then set the engine in and see where it falls.
I installed a 350/700r in my car at the same time and it was a bitch. Maybe if I'd had a helper it would have gone smoother but I plan on going in separate this time.
I thought taking the v6 and trans combo out was actually easier... So when I swapped in the 385 v8 I attached the trans.. whole new breed. I though it was actually harder then putting one thing in at a time. Just my 2 cents. I know it's not a ls1 but my 385/th350 combo was big compared to what I was use to doing.
Well, engine and trans are in! Did it together to save a few steps. Took a total of 3 hours to combine and drop it all in. Not to shabby for my first LS swap! Ran into a few issues but nothing that couldn't be handled.
Gotta modify the crossmember for the 4L60e, then put the car in the garage. Time to to start fabricating the turbo headers!
I got my 4.8 in this weekend too. What crossmember did you buy? A used aftermarket conversion crossmember? And you're using the truck trans right? What's your plan for the torque arm? I'll probably change the tail housing to the f body style.
Bill, it's a spohn unit from a member on here. I'm using the fbody 4l60e and not the truck style. That way the pan hard bar can be used like factory. I do need to get a 4th gen torque arm mount as I found that the 3rd gen does not fit.
Yep I didn't know either! The trans mount did bolt on though.
Here is a picture with the intake sitting on top. Plan is to tidy up everything under the car next weekend (I live on campus for school) and then put it in the garage to start the fab work!
Just for reference if someone was considering swapping their car, I'm $840 total without the turbo parts included. That includes nuts, bolts, and gaskets as well.
