The instrument cluster was altered as it appears it possibly has the aftermarket digital gauges.
But what about the radio/controls? Looks factory to me. While it may not have been originally on this Trans Am, those steering wheel radio controls was available on the Trans Am without being a GTA. Don't appear to see them that often with it not being a GTA.

The first thing I look at when looking at a GTA for sale is the Pontiac lettering on the headlight. If it's not gold, I start to question. The rear tail light bird is also not gold on this car. That's when I'll ask the owner if the headlights or tail lights have ever been replaced and kind of go from there.
That's still a nice car though. I'd drive it all day.
It has been pretty common to throw around the GTA term when selling a Trans Am to either get extra hits or attempt to advertise something that it's not because GTA is the top of the line on the Firebird side and the higher dollar car. In the 90s when I was looking at them it was being done.
And the wheels aren't "GTA" wheels as the ad stated twice. Those PW7 wheels came out before the GTA was released and was optional on the Trans Am before and during the GTA's availability.

Just maybe the seller figured if it has a 5.7 it must be a GTA. Something that isn't super common. More than likely though, JT has it right though, marketing.... But, if your looking for a GTA, your not going to be doing much after landing on their website except talking about it like we are now.
Kinda like the CL advertisers that add keywords for other cars that their car is absolutley not. That might work for 1% of window shoppers, but most of us find it as annoying as pop up advertising.

On one of the pictures you can see the Oil and coolant temp needles through the smoked/tinted bezel. So I think it has the original gauges, just a tinted bezel. Though why you'd tint the instruments so you can't read them during the daylight I don't know.
I may give it a chance if they added the giant Phoenix on the hood.
I thought about it, my GTA badges were worn from sitting in a field and I'm on a budget so I improvised. Decided against the Phoenix on the hood though.
Then it wouldn't be factory if it had the large bird on the hood since that wasn't an option after 1987! This car should have had the small bird on the bumper.
