87 GTA 5.7 faster than 88 GTA 5.7?

According to this website by Edmunds, it puts the 87 GTA at 15.4 ET and the 88 GTA at 15.9. For a long time i couldnt figure why that was. And i just kinda went with it, and accepted.

But I THINK i know why its like that. I did some research and i noticed that the 87 GTA came standard with 3.27 rear-end. The 88 GTA came standard with the 2.77 rear-end, but had the option of a 3.27 rear-end.

I'm guessing that they tested standard on both, so the 87 had the rear-end advantage.

If that were true, would it gain .4 ET time with that rear-end difference?

What do u guys think? Think that could be it, or some other reason?

Check out the times:

Or the fact that they had terrible people driving those cars. I've seen test where the 87 IROC's were hitting 14.2's all stock. I don't know how some of these people test these cars with auto's and still manage to run over a second worse than another person.

Um, accoarding to the gtasourcepage.com , 87's with a 350 engine came in 2.73 and 3.27. All 88's with a 350 came in 3.27.
