Sorry about the 92 mistake. I am looking for something to fool around with. I have other cars but they are all pristine. I know that the manuals will have the 305, but that can be remedied. I just like the gear changing to be made myself Here's a picture of my 67RS if I can get it to load. Just finished it after a 2 year resto. It is a one owner and I have tons of paperwork from the original owner. Even a picture of her when she bought the car new.
That's a beautiful '67. As far as Iroc's are concerned, you can pick up nice ones in the $4-6000 price range, and fixer uppers even less. From your picture, looks like you live in the northern climates, so if you find one, look it over for rust on the T-top brace and under the carpets, and the obvious places.
Thanks RedRock. I don't want anything with a lot of rust. Of course these old cars have some. I live in the Piedmont area of NC. All the cars around here are full of rust because of the humidity and rain. One of my best friends has a lot of high dollar Corvettes and Camaros. I will never forget many years ago when we first met, he was showing me his collection. Sitting over in a corner was a 1985 Iroc sitting on jack stands. It still had the window sticker on it and the odometer said 13 miles. I told him that car was out of place there with all the BB corvettes and other rare cars. He said yea, that's what they said in 1967 when he bought his Corvettes and put them up.
There are guy's on this site that are cranking out respectable numbers with a 305 TPI, so even if you plan on upgrading the engine, the 305 can be a lot of fun. I had a '86 Iroc back in '86, it had the auto, but for the day, it was the fastest car produced. Even the Wisconsin State Patrol had a few of them.
I don't mind the 305, like you said you can get a little more out of them. If I had my choice, I would want a red mid 80's Iroc with a manual tranny. Heck, I would even settle for a roller if someone has a good one.
Check out ebay, just for idea's and prices, then check out craigslist, and any auto buyer mags from gas stations etc., check out the for sale on this site also. You'll find one eventually.
