89 IROC 5.0L TPI Rad Coolant Reservoir part number question
Hi, I have an 89 IROC 5.0L TPI auto convertible with a cracked radiator coolant tank. The existing radiator coolant tank part number moulded in is "10077293, ASM 10077291, made in canada". I find adds stating that the part number is 10170175. Any ideas why the part number on my existing tank is different?

Part numbers sometimes get updated through time, maybe a supplier change or who knows but the "new" NOS ones I have gotten aren't date coded like your original one .

Interesting. I found this on GM parts WIKI "RETAINER RR BPR FASCIA SUPT PUSH IN 01 276 PG7 20 12 82 87 A 10077293 AR 32 RETAINER RR BPR FASCIA" Maybe duplicate numbers somehow?

I decided to keep the OEM if possible. Bleached the tank with Clorox, Oxyclean, a little Dawn and a bunch of BBs. Changed the solution twice over a soaking period of about 4 days. Don't have a beginning photo but did get most of the yellow out. Welding the plastic seemed to work well with the exception of the crud in the crack staining the melting plastic. I tested the tank with boiling water and it proved water tight. One photo shows the weld and the second shows an interior view of the crack.
