89 IROC-Z DIED WHILE PARKING (RESOLVED)

Hello everyone,
My IROC with a 350 TPI completely died on me while I was backing up into my parking spot. 177,000 miles and never happened before. The car is now home waiting to be lifted up and diagnosed. At work now.

The symptoms are no crank, there is no dash light, no radio, and no windshield wipers either. It's like the whole fuse block lost power. The Headlights and interior dome light does work though.

I researched here for similar problems and one came up where someone had to replace a fusible link by the starter. Any other reason this can happen? I will be working on the car tonight. Thanks!

Sounds like a fusable link at the starter.

Definitely was the fusible link. I am thinking about rewiring all these to a standalone fuse block near the battery to make it better accessible. No more soldering or wire splicing. Continuing on tomorrow.

My IROC is running again. I changed my mind about using a fuse block. Did some research and stuck with the fusible link. She's alive and running again.
