My last fuel tank question....I promise So I ordered the Spectra Premium GM2721A tank and the matching Spectra premium ST23 straps but they are slightly different from the factory OEM straps. The factory straps are curved on both sides and the Spectra are only curved on the bolt side and are straight / flat on the hanger side. Im sure they will work, anyone had any fitting issues ?

 

I went with the Spectra straps and could not get the tank to sit up in the enclosue 100% due to the tank seams. The tanks sits about 1" lower on the front bolt side, When I look at the factory OEM tank the front and rear seam are molded different and countoured. Not sure if the straps had a factor in this or because the seams are just slightly different. The tank is secure so It should not be a problem. Anyone else had this problem ? Should I try the factory straps or just keep it as is ? Any adivce would be much appresiated. See pictures.

 

I used hawks repo straps. They're a little different from the ones in your pics. As long as your tank is secure, I wouldn't worry much. Its not like you can grind the seams to make it fit differently. Hopefully you have good clearance on the heat shield.
