We'll try it again, Mikey. YOUR CAR DOES NOT HAVE ENOUGH HORSEPOWER TO BREAK ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!! LET ALONE A STOCK CLUTCH. YOU BURNED IT BECAUSE THE MOTOR WAS TOO WEAK TO BREAK THE BACK TIRES LOOSE!!!!!!!!! YOU INSTALL THAT SPEC CLUTCH AND ALL YOU'LL DO IS KILL THE ENGINE AT THE STARTING LINE. AND THEN THE ABUSE WILL POUR DOWN FROM ABOVE!!!!!!!!(I can't wait) FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. Worst case of Cranial Rectitis I've ever seen!!!!!!!!!

Just wondering if you would like to make a "friendly wager" on the race...no whining.........no excuses......p.s. a cracked TPS sensor does not count as "racing broken".

We discussed what week to hold this at the last monthly, but nothing was decided there or on here. Let's get some feed back now.

I vote for the week before Turkey Day. I'm scheduled to fly out to work on Thanksgiving day, which won't happen, probably a day or two either side of it. All other folks probably have family commitments, I would think. If not, let me know, we'll adopt you!

1bad91z, I'll get with you when I get home mid-October for a new tune, thanks for the offer.

TexasB4C - I have black interior plastics and black door panels, no seat belts though. Black / grey front /rear seats too.

PM me if you want to come and take a look at the stuff. I'll let it go CHEAP!

Wheel Spin - just let me know when you get back and I'll hook ya up. You may want to make the parts deposit before you leave so I can have the (chip/memcal-adapter/zif socket) waiting on you to come over for the tune. PM me.

All others needing parts, post in the Parting Out 1989 IROC thread.

THanks!

If we move the winter/fall meet up more than one month to November 26th, then the drag racing meet needs to move foreward too. I propose Friday night Street night, October 28th at HRP. Asl Texas LT1 said, we can grab a bite somewhere for those that want to eat. then get to the strip as early as posssible, maybe 6 or 7pm. They stay open late, we can get plenty of runs. We can still do the special lane things mentioned, that sound like a good idea, if possible.

Each guy can have about an hour for practive runs, then the eliminations. With the amount of cars we will have I don't expect more than, what 3 or 4 rounds per group, boom, we are done. Then can give trophies relax and do more racing if desired.

*nods head in agreement* I like that plan Larry.

Ok I'm an idiot and misread the other thread the first time I posted this. My thoughts. I would definitely prefer a Friday night to Saturday during some other event just because we can run as many times as we like. Sure we might have to wait in line for a little while, but I've gotten 10 runs in one night before and usually no less than 4, just depends on how many people show up.

I would prefer November for this thing, but I guess end of October works too, just puts me in a little bit of a time crunch

Well, that's the way we did it in the past, and I found that unsatisfying. I either didnt get to race who I wanted to race for various reasons, or I ended up racing someone whom I beat by like a second, which is not fun either. I think we should have the brackets like we planned, below 13, 13-14, above 14, set up the races depending on who shows up, make a little elimination chart, then just run those runs. It will provide a stucture to make sure there are some good close races as well as providing real "meet like" races, and actually a winner in each bracket. I really don't think it will take long, on Friday night you can run pretty much continuously.

After that, then I want to race you

Oh, yeah, originally we planned this for NOvember, but now Craig is proposing to move up the other meet to basically the same weekend, so that's why im proposing to go to October for racing.

heh, you replied as I was editing my post. Oh well.

And don't worry, we WILL race. But, you know how you were talking about beating someone by a second and its just not fun......

As far as the date goes, I would much rather try and do it the first or second week of November.

Hey Larry,

The date I am proposing for the Annual Fall Meet is Sat- Nov. 26th

The only date the HRP calendar is showing that they are open on Sat in Nov is Nov 12th!

They are showing they will be open every Fri and Sun for the next several months.

U know........I was thinking....... would we want to have the drag strip thing Nov 25th--Fri--the day after Thanksgiving? A lot of the people will have that whole weekend off since many take off Thur, Fri Sat, Sun for the T-day holiday. Since there are a number of people talking about coming in from out of town, this would make it easier for them. we could make this one big Thirdgen weekend!

Drag racing Fri night At HRP

BIG Meet/BBQ/ Mass cruise to Sam's Club Sat as planned

Fine with me. I was thinking that might be a lot of car activities right together, but that was the date, Friday 25th that I was thinking for the drag meet, since its a holiday for most

Random thoughts.........

Will Mike have his clutch in by then?

Will Barry make a pass without breaking something?

Will TxLT1 have a driveshaft by then?

Will xtreme's car be as bad as he thinks it will be?

Will ESC just go ahead and kick everybodies butt BIG Time?

Will Larry Dunlap beat me again like he did last 3 passes?
(Should I tell him about the recent changes I made to my car, or just let him find out at the strip, when I kick his butt?)

Will Rudyt5000 show up without a thirdgen and remind us who is KING when it comes to eating large quanities of food and even more important, drinking BEER!

possible, but highly doubtful

already working that one out

Will xtreme's car be as bad as he thinks it will be?
I would be inclined to say yes

I'm good just hearing about it

Sorry Craig, gonna have to go with Larry again.

When is Rudy not drinking, talking, or day dreaming about beer?!

Haha, anyway. As I posted in the other thread, doing this back-to-back over the Thanksgiving holiday sounds like the best way to do this. Gives us all time to finish modding our cars if so inclined and no one will be working.

That sounds good to me. Originally we were thinking that it just be "houstons fastest thirdgenner" but you know what, screw that. The more the merrier, judged on our last turnouts we can use every car we can get.

14 seconds and up it is!!

I think it would be better to just wait and let it be a surprise.

Geez now you got me worried, I might have to do a tuneup or something

Well, I'm gonna try anyway!

But having the meet the next day means that I need to make sure I don't break anything, and a day of racing without breaking something just isn't complete!

BTW, I'm hoping that, if all the planets align, I'll be in the 11's. But I'm not making any promises...

No clutch yet guys

Don't know if I'll even be able to make the show. Still out of full time work. Been staying afloat by building and working on other people's thirdgen's.

Maybe the IT gods will smile on me and I'll have a computer job again soon!

Crossing fingers....

Hooking on drag tires and breaking parts, expensive.

Just a warning, take it easy the first few runs, I broke an aftermarket spohn torque arm on my first run using slicks the last time I went to the track.

Also you can explode a rear end if your not carefull

OK, now that the date is set and the calsses are more or less solid...

Who is planning on running in which class?

And more importantly from my stand point...

Who will be in my class (<13) and what do you hope/expect to run?

Like I said recently, I'm hoping for an 11. I'l be disapointed if I dont run at least a 12.5.

As far as I know the registeration and insurence only comes into play when U get stopped by the MAN! The strip does not require it.

What part of Houston do U live in?
