Call a couple of the local performance machine shops listed in the yellow pages or local speed shops, and ask them--if anybody knows they would.

American Coating Specialties in Humble. Their number should be in the phone book.

Most likely ceramic coat, I don't think powder coating will hold the heat in like ceramic so it's kind of just for looks. $150 is not a bad price for headers and y-pipe ceramic coated. Just make sure they clean them first if they are used and coat the inside AND outside. American Coating Specialties used to be a sponsor of this board but I guess they might be out of business or something, I have to go out that way one day this week, so I might just pass by and see. I'll post if I do.

I got mine coated at American Coating in Humble, but as it was said, they are no longer at the phone number I had for them. That shop was run by Dave Hamilton, former thirdgenner. I don't know if he is still around somewhere else or not, but they did a very good job on my SLPs.

well I ran a search for ceramic coating yesterday on the exhaust thread and it seems that some people were having problems with acs (american coating specialties) in humble and thats why they were removed as a sponsor. I did however find a company..... Header Powder Coating - Thermal Coating for Exhaust - Thermal Engine Coatings - Piston Dry Film Lubricant - Motorcycle Ceramic Coatings Exhaust they are in Virginia but since my company has a branch there I'm just going to ship them inter-company mail and have them drop them off. they will coat the headers for $175 and all pipe up to 3" @ $15 ft. So I'm looking at about $265. Here's there warranty..... All THERMAL TECH products are conditionally guaranteed for 3 years unless stated otherwise on your original invoice. During this period, components may be returned for unsatisfactory workmanship or coating defects. Parts must be returned within 90 days of the appearance of defect. The guarantee will not apply if there is obvious abuse of the coating, modification or welding of the components. Damage due to extreme exhaust temperatures exceeding 1200 Deg. F will not be covered for thermal barrier coatings unless the part is coated with Turbo-X 2000 which is guaranteed to 2000 Deg. F. We cannot guarantee the amount of performance increase of the products as the use application and handling of the products is beyond our control.

OK, maybe thats why they were removed as a company as well. I called their number and it is disconnected. Well I know Dave Hamilton personally but maybe something went wrong. I better go out and look at my headers. My car is not a daily driver so maybe it is not correct to use and an example of how the coating will stand up. Ive probably put less than 2000 miles in the last 3 years since they were coated.
