You all are welcome to use the shop as a location for your meet. We can pull the grill out and we always have access to the dyno. Just a thought.

Re: Next meet!!!!
Man, I think that would be a cool place to meet. I guess it kinda depends on whether others prefer to display their wares in a public place like a park.
Re: Next meet!!!!
Yeah, thats true, ARD is nice but not a good spot for viewing, thats why we on here just to throw out ideas, i remember at the last one they desided to have the meet on 4 sides, since we meet every quarther: North, South, East, and West that way we can hit everyone. By that being said, Bear creek is west, so we have East, North, and South left.

Re: Next meet!!!!
We used to do the "monthly meet" thing like that, rotating around, and it was always the same people who showed up. I don't have anything against trying out a different spot, but I don't agree with moving just for the sake of moving it. If anything, I think it will reduce attendance.
Owen, thanks for offering your shop.
There was also some talk (mostly by me) of going to Duessen (sp?) park and then HMP.

I had the opertunity to visit Duessen park for the first time last weekend...and I would like to withdraw my suggestion that we meet there.
So I now suggest that we meet at Bear Creek again.

how about a date first, so we can see where the majority of ppl availabe are, then we can choose location based on that. i really want to go this time, but i will be out of town for a few weeks throughout the summer, so the date is much more important to me right now

Re: Next meet!!!!
So what does everyone say?
Saturday 6-21-08 Bear Creek Park followed by a cruise to Otto's?
Pasadena Hooters @ Beltway and Vista?
Any other suggestions?
We need to decide on a date/time/place so that we can get started.

Re: Next meet!!!!
im in favor of the south houston area, the closer to kemah the better for me because i live 3 min from the chick filet. if we wanna do a hooters meet the is one about 2 miles from chick fillet at the intersection of nasa parkway and highway 146. also there is the kemah boardwalk and a nice park in league city, all near kemah. bear creek is fine with me too, just putting out ideas

Re: Next meet!!!!
anyone considered vito's off of 45 and nasa 1?
they've blocked off parking for meet and greets before plus parking and whatnot will be way easier then anything in kemah.
food and drinks will be cheaper too

So it looks like the only suggestions are Bear Creek (Again) and Kemah. I'm going to start a sticky poll so people can vote on where they want to go.

Re: Next meet!!!!
Well I'm out. The tranny locked up Sunday night on I-45 near Little York, I felt like it may have even damaged the rear end. It was pretty scary going from 75 MPH to 0 with the rear tires locked up in the left lane next to the WALL! Guess I'm spendin the summer savin up for driveline parts now. The tow truck driver had a hell of a time draggin it onto his bed with the rears froze up, but he managed to get a decent angle and not scrape the nose, Thank God.

Re: Next meet!!!!
That's no good. Are you sure it is the tranny and not just the rear end? A used rear end isn't very expensive.

Re: Next meet!!!!
ESC's right you might not wanna point the finger at the tranny yet, or your rear end it could be your brakes. I've seen instances where the E-brake cable got hit with something and this happens.

Re: Next meet!!!!
Yeah, its the trans. After they truck dropped the car at my place I pulled the drive shaft so I could push it into its parking place and it rolled just fine. I disconnected the shift cable first and tried to put it into neutral by hand but the shifter rod that comes out of the trans just wouldn't budge. When I tried to bump it with the starter to see if it might help, the motor still turned over but once it had enough rpm to engage the torque converter it would lock up. That's probably not the best way to describe it but close enough. I didn't want to chance it back spinning the crank, so I left it alone, and double checked the motor by turning it over with a breaking bar,so far so good on that count. It was making a weird harmonic sound, kinda like the speedo cable was rubbing inside the tailshaft housing, right before it went, but Little York is not the best place to pull over and start getting out tools in the middle of the night. I was hoping the problem would let me make it home but I only got from Beltway 8 down to Little York, that's where it locked up
.I didn't hear any bangs or pops, but when the tires locked up the rear end was shuddering really hard on the dry concrete.

Re: Next meet!!!!
You better check you tires for flat spots...
That sounds like your tranny cratered all right.
If I were you I would probably pull it out and go get a junk yard tranny for three reasons.
First, if it locked up that hard, even if it is possible to fix, I wouldn't trust that it didn't have structural damage to the housing that may or may not be easily visible.
Second, most junk yard trannies will come with a 30 day guarantee. If it lasts 30 days it is likely to last a lot longer. When you do have to get it rebuilt at least you will have a relatively intact core. A junk yard tranny is a roll of the dice, but you might get a good one that will last for years.
Third, if you are on a tight budget it is the cheapest way to get the car running again.

Re: Next meet!!!!
I found a 700r4 trans but it was in a pickup, so I don't know if its geared the same, I figure it might be feasable if I only need to swap the speedo parts, but the last thing I want to use is a tranny with to low of a first gear ratio. The friend that has it, isn't really car minded, he's a motorcycle mechanic. But right now I'm down to my last few dollars and he says he'll just leave it in his garage till I buy it or get one from somewhere else. I'm still pretty worried about the rear end though, the tires are ruined. Good thing they were really old, it was time for new one's any way.

Re: Next meet!!!!
Need to swap tail housings for the torque arm too. Not a big deal and takes 5 minutes. So far my car is not smoking, it did a bit going around a corner or two and i could smell it but i just pray there might be a leak or just burning a bit out due to ******* it a bit....err lot.
