Need Help -- WTB Engine Parts
Need Help -- WTB Engine Parts
I'm looking for a reliable source / website that I can order engine and interior parts for my new/old 86 Camaro.
I just got back from Iraq and found out that the person I got the car from didn't really know crap about what he was talking about. I don't know too much either but my brother-in-law, a retired mechanic does. Unfortunately, a lot of work that was done to the car was done by someone who had very little knowledge of engine work.
Example - for all the Texans... all the emissions controls are missing. (And we all know how great Texas is for emissions right?)
Anyway,
Looking for a source or site that is reliable, doesn't screw around on price, and can be trusted. I'm not looking for independent or private service because I already have that, just looking for somewhere I'd be able to obtain the parts.
Thanks for any and all help!

If you are looking for "ALL" the emission controls, I would have to recommend that you find a donor car. Trying to piece it together, one part at a time, could get VERY expensive.
In addition, as I'm sure you have already found, many of the parts are no longer in production and can be difficult to find new.
IMO, your best bet will be to either acquire a parts car or find a local junk yard that has a few third gens.
As far as junk yards go, there are some that have third gens, but we would need to know where you are before any recommendations could be made.

If "Iraq" implies Armed Forces veteran...
Welcome back, & Thank You for your service.
Your original post is somewhat vague. For purely engine parts,
the options are to numerous to mention, and span the range
of used stuff available from a plethora of Houston area junk-yards,
to the more traditional new suppliers like Jegs, Summit etc.
If the initial focus is merely Texas Emissions, I wouldn't expect
much help "online". W/ respect to TX-Emis., some is visual,
and some is unnecessary. Board member Denn-Shah works at
a shop of Griggs, that I can recommend. We've had conversations
about Inspections in general, and he is willing to work with you.
He makes his living at this, but he's not trying to get rich.
Good luck, and come check out the Chick_Filet in Kemah on sat. nights.

Re: Need Help -- WTB Engine Parts
We still have a bunch of parts we pulled from our 90 Firebird "24 Hours of Lemons" car you might be interested in. We're trying to raise a few more bucks or trade for some race spares (ECU, fuel pump, etc) but we're not refusing reasonable (and most unreasonable) offers. Check out our posting in the South Central Classifieds - https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/sout...s-houston.html.
Thanks,
Mike
