My dad and I were thinking about maybe taking his Chevelle to HMP tomorrow. I vaguely remember hearing something about a helmet being required if you run a certain time? I looked on the website and couldn't find it. Does anybody happen to know what that time is, how difficult it is to achieve the time, and if the helmet has to be one of those really expensive certified ones? haha. Also what's their stance on bench seats/lap belts? I'm thinking that's something they'd have a problem with, but I don't know.

I just don't wanna get down there and not be able to race.

Ok. I found the time in question is an 8.6. Which doesn't seem too quick cause my Camaro ran a 9.9 with the tired 305. The Chevelle has an LT1 with a GMPP Hot Cam Kit and true dual exhaust, and that's about it. So I think it should run the 8.6. What helmet is necessary? And obviously, are they gonna freak out over the lap belts? haha.

Depends on what diicks are there. I have run 8.3 and they dont say anything to me about a helmet, then i have run 8.4 and tell me i need one...

Tonight, deep into the 7s, 5 passes and NO ONE SAID JACK about a helmet. I had one in case, but they left me and my ride alone, so it was a good night, i hate wearing helmets.
