The votes are in...

And Quarterly Houston area meets are the clear winner with more than 85% of the votes being for that or more frequently. Monthly (or more frequently) had 40% and weekly had 15%.

So the next question is when and where...

Since the last meet was in December, the next one should be in March. I think Saturday, March 15th would be a good choice.

Where? It is true that our best turnouts have always been at bear creek park so that definitely needs to be considered. There was a meet a few years ago at a park near HMP. I didn't make that meet, but judging by the pictures it was a nice park. The proximity to HMP might be nice for a little evening racing also.

So my suggestions for when are where are:

March 15th
Bear Creek park or
the park near HMP

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Is there any possibility that some of these meets could wind up being on a Sunday afternoon? I do not get off work on Saturdays until 6am and then I am back in at 8pm. I will keep a look out. HMP sounds good though.

I don't have a problem with Sunday. It just depends on who votes for what day. Is there a particular Sunday you would like to suggest?

No specific Sunday I just work every Friday night into Saturday mornign and then turn around and work sunday night. I have been trying to get to any of the meets but they just fall on Saturdays (a typical meeting day) If more people want Saturday that is fine. I know the Sunday race tracks are usually less busy where I come from anyways. I guess well see what everyone else says.

I think a HMP meet wold be great, meet at the park for a few hours, then cruise to the strip for tuning/playing. Great idea, if we wanted to get even heavier, a cruise to HRP to the 1/4 mile would be cool also.

The problem with HRP (and Seally for that matter) is that it is a 120 mile round trip (for me and maybe others). HMP is much more centrally located and is only a 60 mile round trip (for me). I don't know about you, but it costs me $40.00 in gas alone to go to HRP or Seally. Now if I want to race or eat we are looking at closer to $80.00.

IMO the more centrally located the event is, the better turnout we are likely to have.

Good Park, very close to HMP. Just off beltway 8, north-east side.

yevgenievich, did you go to Lucky's rod run? The cruis from college station to conroe is quite enjoyable if you take 149.

Sundays would be better for most if not all of us in san antonio. If we are to drive out to meet with you all, I think we'd probably wait till you hold it somewhere near our side of houston. Bear Creek seemed kind of far for us but we would make that drive again.
