Hey guys, can any one tell me if this'll fit my 91 Camaro rs. It has a stock rear end.

Re: Will this fit my car?

I got 3.42 gears and a posi unit for my car. (91 Camaro rs with a 350 tbi) what can I expect in terms of performance after I install these parts. I know I won't get hp gains obviously. But how much will my acceleration increase? Thanks in advance.

What gear ratio do you have now?

My car has stock 2.73? But I ended up buying an eaton posi carrier and I'm gonna put 3.42 from that g80 carrier on it.

Re: Will this fit my car?

I would guess that the gears will make it feel about 20% faster. The posi won't do anything (straight line, dry road) unless you have a wheel spin issue.

Oh ok. Thanks. I was also considering 3.73 but I thought it would be too low since my car is a daily and I do a lot if highway driving.

Re: Will this fit my car?

"Conventional" wisdom is that a 3.73 is as low as you would want to go on a daily driver with overdrive. If you do a lot of highway driving you probably made the right choice.

Re: Will this fit my car?

Thanks for the info. Maybe you can help me with this question as well. Are vortec heads a direct swap to a 350? I know the intake needs to be changed but will everything else fit? I tried searching the forums but didn't find much. Actually, are vortec heads worth swapping? Performance wise? This car is my daily driver and I'm looking to get a little more power out of it.

Re: Will this fit my car?

I THINK that vortec heads/intake are a direct swap for a 350. I'm not sure about a 305...there may be valve clearance issues...but I don't know for sure.

Oh ok. Thanks again. I got a 350 in the car and am looking to swap to the vortec heads.

Re: Will this fit my car?

The vortec heads do make a little difference,
but there are a lot of choices when it comes to cylinder heads now a days.

As far as your rear axle gearing.
I had a 2.73, went to a 3.73 limited slip, then down to a 3.42.
The 2.73 gives you great gas mileage
The 3.73 made it a spirited 305 4bbl
The 3.42 does a little of both.

If I had to choose, i would choose the 3.42.
I was happiest with it.

Re: Will this fit my car?

What kind of heads would you reccomend? I bought a edelbrock 3702 cam which I know didn't have too much lift, but I also got some 1.6 rockers to make up for that. But then I was thinking i can open the valves all I want and it won't make a difference if the heads don't flow. I got an 87 350 tbi, headers a bigger bore tbi(though I'm not sure of bore size)

Re: Will this fit my car?

What exactly do you want out of your engine?
1.6 rockers on what CC heads with what size valves (vortec or not)
and with what compression pistons
with your 3702 cam, may not all match up?
Headers or stock exhaust? If headers, what size? 1 5/8 or 1 3/4?
What size TBI?

Too often do I see someone not "match up" items on their engine.

As an example, someone I know has a 69 Camaro.
Years ago he built the engine with this large carb and cam and heads.
It sounded good and was powerful.
Within the last 3 years he put a smaller cam and carb,
but his car became quicker and seemed to have more power!
Nothing was matched before. He was always burning rich as well.
he later changed his stall torque converter to a much smaller one.
He nows does not dread stop and go traffic.

All these things factor in.

Re: Will this fit my car?

Thanks for the info. I'd like to run 12's if that helps. And I'm not saying the parts I've listed will get me there. At the moment I'm just getting parts that will still be useable in a 383, because that's what I ultimately plan on doing. My headers are 1 5/8 I think. Tbi is 670 cfm.
Also I chose the 3702 cam because the engine wouldn't need a tune. But then I decided I will toon the engine.
